    Hi Roxy,

After my bilateral, my onc encouraged me to also get a hysterectomy and then to take Arimidex, a drug that depletes estrogen.  I was concerned about the immediate jump into menopause, so I asked about eating soy and taking vitamins that are supplements to help women with menopause side effects, such as hot flashes.  She said DON'T take those, and don't eat a lot of soy.  They both are a plant-based estrogen that would mimic your body's estrogen and give the cancer food to grow on.

If you are ER-, then the added estrogen is possibly not an issue, but ask your dr.

    Take care.
