For those starting chemo in June

Hey all, hope you have a great wk. end. Have to go sell some jewelry. Hugs, Mary

Sell a bunch Mary!
I have the routine Saturday stuff to do today. Errands and housework. Sometimes, I would rather go to "work" work instead.
Did not want to get sleepy so I have not taken my shaky pill yet. Just sloshed coffee all over the place, what with the shaking and deciding to bandage my arm as it is huge.
Just realized that this post is such a downer. Doing a 180. Have a great weekend ladies! It is good to be alive.
Hugs, J

Hey Girls, just checking in. Hows everyone? I was down in the back yesterday so stayed close to my heat pad. I have to get to Wally today and get some groceries. We were in the hole at this last craft fair. People just wasn't buying. We were in the hole a lot less than the others because they were out a motel. I think it will be better after Thanksgiving. We don't have anything going on but I need to get on the web and find some things. There is one down by St. Louis so I may check into that Thanksgiving Wk. end. I get my neck cut on Fri. so we couldn't do one this wk. end in St. Louis because they run Fri. to Sun. That would have been a good one. Oh well, we weren't too off in the hole and the mall's are expensive to get into. I think a lot of people thought the crafters would be there until x-mas because they would say I will be back closer to x-mas. Gotta go get my groceries. hugs, Mary
-
Good Morning Ladies,
Just checking in. Been working long hours lately. Mary, I hope your back is better.
I miss that little envelope flashing when I have a PM here. I usually do not notice the number beside "home" for several days. Also, they used to email me when I had a private message. Maybe one has to set that up again or something.
Hey PJ and NL.
Hugs, Janie

I posted on the other June thread that I'm DONE with chemo. Last Taxol today! I can't tell too many people can I? The onc is pleased that the tumor is almost completely gone (by feel). He doesn't think I'll need more chemo after surgery depending on the path. report. I'm feeling more optimistic than I have since May.
All the best to all of you

Congrats! Shrink! That is great. Feels so good to get off of Taxol. That little poison they found in the rain forrest works its magic, but it also does a number on the rest of you. Taxol was the worst of all my TXs. You should start feeling much better soon. Congrats again. JF
-
Good for you Shrink. Good luck with you surgery. Janie, I get my neck cut tomorrow. Thats not a big deal. I have an apt. to get 4 teeth out next Thurs. They are really bad, hurting. I will get the rest out later but the bad ones first(the front ones you might know). I will be eating my turkey ground up. I am just making a small dinner for my kids and they will eat elsewhere also. I think I get my neck done and the teeth out I will be good to go. Gosh, what will I gripe about? Ahhh, hubby is always good. His driving is getting bad. I think he is trying to kill me sometimes. I better get so later girls. Hugs, Mary
-
Hi all,
Yeah, is it just me or is life getting busier? Crazy. Nathan's got plays for the next 3 days. Luckily, I only have to sit through it once....
Mary, hope the surgery goes great and accomplishes what it's supposed to. And I have confidence you'll have something to gripe about. I know I always do.....
Hey to Janie, too. And Nancy. And Shrink, congratulations! -
I posted yesterday and it did not take. Probably did not give it time. Patience is not my middle name sometimes.
PJ what is the name of the play Nathan is in? What is his role?
Mary, hope your teeth get all better and you finally get some deserved relief from everything.
My arm is still swelling, but doing much better since I went back to wrapping.
I did something really stupid. During the night, I tried to pull the covers up around me more and my hand slipped and I socked myself in the mouth and cut my lip with my nail. So basically, I gave myself a fat lip! Only I could do that.
Hope all is well. Have a happy weekend.
Janie
-
Hey girls, P.J. I hate to scare ya but it will only get busier until Nathan gets his license and a car. Getting them to understand that gas isn't free and they need a job to pay for the ins. and gas is another story then you become a loan company just until payday but something always comes up and hey , just don't plan on ever being paid back. The good news is by the time they leave home you are ready for a break but in a couple wks. then ya get lonely but thats all a memory after the grandkids come along and you are the goffer again. I didn't get my skin cancer cut off because the Dr. was ill or had an emergency or something so I have to call back. Janie, Janie, Janie, I am glad you didn't have to get stitches because I just don't think that alibi would fly. When I worked in the E.R. for a short time people came in at night because they fell out of bed having sex and broke an arm or leg or busted their lip on the partners head or knee etc. need I say more? Some tried to make up elaberate stories and some just told the truth. That makes it bad for people like us that live and breath Murphy's Law. You get some strange things in E.R. Well, hope you all have a great wk. end. Nancy Lee must be busy. I can't do any shows for a few wks. but I don't think it would be good until after Thanksgiving anyway. Better get. Hugs, Mary
-
Mary, That would have been difficult to explain in an ER. I bet that is one interesting place to work.
She's right PJ. You are only beginning...............
Hey Shrink. Hey NL.
Gotta git. Miles to go before I sleep.
-
Wishing everyone well for the upcoming week. Had my last Taxol on Thursday and am having a lot of pain today - must be cumulative for me. Looks like the hydrocodone is kicking in though since I can barely see straight. Glad this chemo is over. I'll be seeing the bs on Tuesday to set up a date for surgery - the next hurdle.
-
Shrink, ah, there's always a next hurdle for awhile yet, huh? Hope the Taxol pain subsides. It's pretty awful.
Well, the play Nathan was part of (he didn't have a part, he was a stage guy) was one the teachers wrote based on a four-day trip the kids took to New Mexico (plus parts of the movie Night at the Museum). It was pretty good, considering they're in 4th and 5th grades.
Today, he marches in the Vet Day parade. (I'll give another plug for my blog here.... the mom blog at www.wacotrib.com) He's looking forward to it. Well, he's at least looking forward to getting out of school for a couple hours.
Janie, how's the lip? Mary, almost killed your hubby yet today?
Later girls. I can't believe we're almost already at Thanksgiving. -
Good morning girls, P.J., aren't those plays just cute? The kids try so hard and they are just adorable and funny. Janie, hows the lip? Wheres N.L.? I heard from Renee and she is doing great. She says hi and she is very busy and having lots of fun. I have been busy making bracelets. My daughter and grandson Bailey got in a 4 car accident while picking up the older grandson at the high school yesterday. Thank God she had the truck and not her little car. They are o.k. but they would have been seriously hurt if they had her car. The guy that hit her had no license and no ins. Well I have to go pick up the boys for school. They go early today. Wow we have had very warm weather again. It reminds me of last year and then we had the ice storm. Boy, not a happy thought. Hugs, Mary
-
Bi-lat surgery has been scheduled for Dec. 3rd. Although I will be glad that I have finished chemo, I'm still pretty frightened of the surgery and recovery process. Guess that's normal. After that's over, I'll worry over rads and LE. Got my worrying all planned out.
-
Hey Shrink, Rads aren't any problem at all. Good luck on the surgery though. I had lumpectomy and later had implants to size them up a bit and get rid of the big divit. I don't now what mastectomy is like. You have got through a lot already. All you Junies have a good night. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey girls, burrrr its cold. 4 teeth down and 5 to go. They did a block and the numbness wears off in like 5 minutes. Wow! your lip feels like it is sticking out over your feet at the end of the chair. I can't have novacaine because the eppy makes my heart go wild. I am not in too much pain but he had to get all down in the gum to pull them so the gum irratation is the only pain. I haven't even taken tylenol. We are going to look at a camper tomorrow about 2 hours away. We saw them when we were at one of our shows and they are reasonable priced for new. Well better go. Hope N.L. is staying warm. Janie, you got some rain, hurrah! P.J. hope you are getting a lettle rest. Hugs, Mary
-
Hey Junebugs,
I have been knee deep in work lately. Have so much to do before quittin time tomorrow because we are off next week. Woke up at 2:51 this morning and never did go back to sleep. Still going on adrenalin I think. Mary, hope you do great with your teeth. PJ, how was the play? Shrink, Mare's right. Radiation is a breeze after chemo. Everything is a breeze after chemo.
Later Ladies,
Janie
-
HI girls,
The play was really great. Amazing what they can get those kids to do. Mary, how're you feeling today? And Janie, do you have the whole week off next week?
And Shrink, I agree with them both: outside of the inconvenience of having to go every day for 6 weeks, it's easy to get rads.
Later girls,
Paula -
Hey!
Yes, PJ, I am off the entire week! However, I brought a ton of work home with me...........but no alarm clock! We have more time off than usual during the year, but our summer is shorter. I like this schedule because I enjoy being off a lot during the school year. Makes it more bearable when the work piles up like it is now. I went over to my main office today to move all my personal belongings out because we were mandated to have all personal items out by the end of the week. Took the boys with me. I did not realize I had taken so much over there. I even had to move my little refrigerator out. The move from school to school is four weeks away during Christmas break. We have to start packing what we are taking with us as far as school stuff goes. The movers are coming in and moving the boxes while we are gone. Those in my school have to take off the last day before break when others are having a teacher work day. Then we have to go back one day during break and unpack and get set up before the kids return.
Have a great weekend ladies. Start saving room for the turkey.
Hugs, Janie
-
Hey Janie, Glad you are getting some time off to work. It is cold and damp. Now theres an unpleasant couple. I shopped for my turkey and fixins today. Janie can you tell I have been around my sister-in-law? She still talks southern. I found a very sore knot on my chest. It hurt to breath and well, I paniced! I noticed it Fri. and yesterday I went to the E.R. and it is the end of my sternum is swollen and it is bruised. I was scared! It was causing pain all around to my spine. I thought it was a lung tumor. Well anyhow, they did an EKG and I asked the doc. how it was and he said "It's O.K. I guess". What the hell does that mean? I didn't ask because I was so excited my chest lump was nothing. I guess when I get the bill I should say I might pay "I guess". My lump is still sore but better. I thought I was having a heart attach because of the pain in my chest right in the middle and down my arm. Well, all is well. I had pork roast yesterday so it is pork bar-b-q tonight. Does anyone have a counter top convection oven? I had one but it wasn't very good so now I want a good one. I want to see if anyone has one and what kind it is and if it is good. I hate to pay for a professional restaurant one. Well, I hope all is well with P.J. and N.L. I bet N.L. is getting cold weather. Thank Goodness hubby gets his surgery in about 2 wks. He dicided to rearrange the bedroom today so I could see the T.V. better. He is also affraid I will fall walking around the bed to the bathroom. I can't see any difference in room just the furniture is in different places. I don't care, it isn't exactly like in tune with the room but he thinks it is safe. Whatever, I gave up long ago with his decorating no-style. He thinks it is good, he did it while I was at Wally to surprise me. Yea, like he could surprise me. Well; if something actually turned out right I would be very surprised. Gotta go, hugs, Mary
-
Mary! I hope everything gets better for you. That body of yours just keeps giving you fits. I go Tuesday for my regular doc's visit. I have a list of things to talk about.
Which convection oven do you have that you do not like? I have been tempted to buy one from the TV ads but haven't done that. They look so fantastic. I already have so many "fantastic" items I bought because I am so gullible.
Hey everybody!
Hugs, Janie
-
Hey Janie, I go next month for my Onky visit. I had a G.E. I got at Wally. It baked good in the back but the front didn't get done. The fan didn't turn on much to scatter the heat. I took it back to Wally after about 2 wks. of trying to get it to cook evenly. I hear people talk about how great they are but I will never know because I will always get the one that doesn't work. Its just the way it is. I am checking it all out so I will let you know. Mary
-
Is that the same thing as the Flavorwave (I think that is what they call it). It cooks really fast and browns etc. Whatever they are called, I think Target has them, or did have at one time. They have many things that are advertised on TV, for the same price w/o the S&H.
-
Hey you little turkey gibblets, what is the gibblet? The liver and kidneys? Isn't that the gizzards? Oh well, somethings may be better left alone. Janie, I had a convection oven that looked like a good sized micro and it did toaster oven too. I yahooed convection oven and got good ones but they are expensive. I don't mind paying a chunk if it is good. We are going to my sister-in-laws Thurs. for a while and I am going to ask her because she has a bar and she uses one so I think she should have some ideas for me. I will let you know. I want one I can bake in because everyone says cakes are done perfect in them. Hope all are gearing up for plenty food and good company. I remember the old days when everyone and their brother came to Grandma's house and we had the drunk uncle, the aunt that like to argue, nothing ever suited her. Now it is just the kids and really it is kinda sad. I don't think families get together much anymore and people die and well, no one really knew them well. My grandkids don't know half their relatives and some of them are actually kind, stable people worth knowing. When I was young they all got together at the river house. When my kids were growing up we had the lake house. They all drank and argued but they had a ball(not the kids the adults that acted sometimes like kids). Oh well, I better go. Hubby has Charlie Brown on, I hear the music. Hi to all and to all a good night. Hugs, Mary
-
From dictionary.com - Usually, giblets. the heart, liver, gizzard, and the like, of a fowl, often cooked separately.
Hey Mary. You sparked my interest so I checked it out in one of my trusty resources. Thanks. I would like to know what is good before I go and get yet another gadget to go with all the other stuff I have fallen for on the infomercials. But you know what? Most of it is pretty good stuff!
Yes, I remember the good ol days when we went to one family's get together for Thanksgiving and the other side for Christmas dinner (one being my Mom's and one my Dad's family). The house was always packed with cousins running all over the place. Everyone is scattered now. I just celebrate with my kids and my Dad. The kids and I are going to the GA Dome for the Colts and Falcons game Thanksgiving night.
Went to the reg doc for routine apt today. She wants me to see a gastro doc bc she says it is time for another colonoscopy (sp) (hurray!) and I asked her to refer me to my old ob gyn because I have not seen one since moving back here. She is so good she is not taking new patients and it has been about 7 years since I saw her .... so I asked for a referral and my reg doc thinks she can get me in. I called and made an apt with the onc Tues because I have a hard cyst like thingee in the breast that is probably more calcifications but it is becoming painful and needs something done about it. I see the neuro guy tomorrow and lastly I see the dermatologist next Friday. Whew! Do you guys ever feel like a car being overhauled?
Hugs,
Janie
-
Ah, Janie, getting all the doc appointments in before the new deductible kicks in? Sounds like you have a lot of fun coming up....
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. I'm about to launch into cleaning for folks coming over tomorrow. Then a little pre-cooking....
I'm thankful for you guys.
Paula -
Hey my little Thanksgiving friends, Glad everything is okey-dokey with you Janie. I will find out tomorrow about the ovens and let ya know. Sounds like you are going to have a great Thanksgiving. P.J. I am pre cooking myself. Janie, I feel a lot like the hangman game and I am busy trying to pick up the parts and just when I get most of them in place I fall off the hook and hang myself and all the parts scatter again. Good luck with the lump. I know they say if it is sore it isn't anything to worry about but I don't know if that is true because I don't know where I heard that. Things go in my head and scramble and drift out and what is left; well no one knows whats in there but it can't be good. P.J. sounds like you will be busy. I don't know where N.L. is but I can say she is having an advebture where ever she is. I am thankfull also for my good friends and coharts in crime here. Together we have endured and I feel very proud of us. Have a great Turkey day girls, Big ol hugs, Mary
-
Ahhhh, when I said I am "pre cooking myself" in the 3rd. sentence; I ment the food. Just wanted to put that point out here. I no doubt will burn myself several times during the meal preparation but not enough to "cook" me. Hugs again. Mary
-
Happy Thanksgiving Eve,
I am so grateful for all you in my life.
Well, I am going to be a guinea pig again. There is a new Parkinson's patch that my neuro guy thinks is grand and asked if I would be willing to try it. Sure, why not. It is supposed to distribute the meds evenly over 24 hours before changing it and therefore I would not have periods of shaking when it wears off. He did not expect me to have side effects with the new meds such as dropping off to sleep unexpectedly because that is usually true of "the elderly" with an advanced stage. I was glad he does not consider me elderly at least. I read the other side effects when I got home and among them was the possibility of "intense sexual urges." Also, it mentioned that PD is often associated with malignant melanoma. Well, of course, I googled it and found out that it is thought that the meds I have been taking (the only one that has worked so far) may cause melanoma..... those with PD have it ten times more often. Well, as you know, I already have an appointment next week with the dermatologist to take a look at these lesions that showed up uninvited and are growing and muliplying. I was not too awfully concerned about them ... till now!?!?! Mary, the hangman's moving in on me again. It never ends, does it?
Anyway, I plan to enjoy Thanksgiving tomorrow and the Colts game in Atlanta.
Hugs, Janie
