Guess what I did yesterday?

I saw a financial planner and got started with an annuity!!
Sort of bold to assume I'll be here in 25 years to reap the full tax-free benefits of my investments. How's that for "moving beyond?" -
Good for you, I know I am still living day to day and I look forward to the day when I can think of planning my daughters weddings.
-
SWEET!!!

Mazel Tov, Felicia!!
I hope it's a good annunity!Because 25 years aint so very long, you know! And THEN you will need to prepare for your old age!
My broker has me all in annuities and money market funds.Hey--I'm a senior citizen, and I gotta start planning for comfy golden years.I read that it is cheaper (and SO much more fun!!) to go on long cruises than to go into an old-age home.I gotta amass the $!
Good luck to you & your annuity!!
hugs, j

That's great, Felicia! And I don't think it's bold at all for you to be assuming that you'll be here 25 years from now. That's exactly what you should be doing - planning for a lot of wickedly wonderful years as a senior!
-
Felicia...I hear you that this step is actually huge for us! I recently got back to really contributing to my retirement fund, whereas in the past several years, I let it go, figuring I wouldn't be needing it. Now I'm thinking I might actually live to use it!
So let's plan on becoming wealthy old broads and meeting up at the poshest resort in the Caribbean!
Good move, Felicia...and congratulations!

I am soooo happy and proud for you.
I'm telling you, getting a financial plan, whether it's to recoupe from the massive debt caused by cancer, paying off loans, credit cards, buying a house, or planning for retirement, I have never felt like I do now about how important this is.
I HIGHLY recommend Suzy Ormans series of books, or her web site for free info on making the best financial plan for you and your family.
Knowing that I wake up every day, and don't have that TERRIBLE feeling in my gut, of sheer and utter panic over bills and money, is the best thing I could do for my body and mind.
I thought cancer would bankrupt me, so to be almost out of debt, and have a portfolio and a plan for the future, I feel great.
I am sooooo glad you did this!!!!! congrats on taking a huge leap forward.

When I saw the title of your thread I guessed that you got Vestley a companion! Lol! Good for you.

I am seeing one tomorrow myself. I am not planning for 25 years out but something to earn interest better than the basic savings account. I figure if nothing else my kids will at least reap the benefits of my savings if I don't. But I figure as a mets patient I am telling myself I will be around long enough to spend some of the money I am investing!
-
hey,
that is great.
i am proud for you.
-
AWESOME!!! Good move, Felicia! Here's to many years of watching it grow--and many more years spending it!!!
