This is what they said my mom has. It's in her mammory (sp) and lympatic (sp) glands. They said it's aggressive and already the size of a quarter.
They want to do her surgery before Thanksgiving. She seemed more upbeat today then she did yesterday.
I talked to my doctor and they are sending me for my first mammorgam next week. She said I am still young to start but it won't hurt to start them. My mom was 27 with her first BC and she's only 48 now. I'm 29.
Thanks for a wonderful board.

Sorry about your mom. Like many of us she may continue to do better as she gets her plan in place. Sounds like you have a good doc who is proactive about your health, too. Hang in there and let us know if we can help.

Sweetie, I am so sorry to read your posts.
A Mom is a very special person, (so are Dads, and Grandparents and Siblings) and this is a scary time for your family, with recent losses of close family. With three little one's yourself, you probably feel very vulnerable now.
On interacting with your Mom, a simple phone call each day to inquire how she is doesn't seem like smothering to me. I don't know how close she is, and you have the little ones, but letting her know you'll be there, through surgery and after, even if by phone, and some visits goes a long way. Perhaps you and your sister can work out a plan.
Breast cancer is treatable, and surgery works well. Then the doctor will go from there. Stay positive, there are lots of good anti-cancer breast cancer drugs to use to fight it.
For yourself, I read your 3 posts: grandmother, aunt, mom, that's a lot of women with breast cancer. Have you heard of the genetic test to see if it runs in your families gene lines? Its called BRCA, and it's a blood test done under the supervision of a medical doctor, with knowledge of genes and cancer. I see you said your Mom was 27 (?) with first BC, so maybe she had "in situ" back then. Or did I misinterpret your words? Well, not trying to pry, but perhaps talking with a physician about your risks and this test may be helpful to you.
We're here, come and post again like Dotti said. So sorry for the misery and fear this is causing.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom (and all your other family members struggling with breast cancer), but she sounds like a fighter. 49 is still young - and she beat cancer once with a 22 year remission! Just be there for her - she'll probably need alot of help if she has to have chemo.
My daughter is 21 now - when I was diagnosed she had just recently moved into her first apartment. She has called me every single day (when I haven't actually seen her) in the 17 months since diagnosis and I don't feel smothered - I feel much-loved. It's a scary time and knowing how much family and friends care is the best medicine of all!
I am keeping your family in my thoughts - please continue to post and let us know how your Mom is doing.

We agreed that I will be at the hospital with my step-dad the day of surgery. My husband will either take off work to be with my kids or my sitter will be here. I will be the contact person for my family.
We have talked about the Holidays and my sister and I are going to go put up the tree before surgery and my daughter's birthday is right after so my mom has plenty of things to look forward to.
Mom's doctor gave her a information (for me) sheet on a study for women who are high risk and I am going to look into it.
I haven't been close to my mom until the last few years and only having 1 parent left I relized it's not too late to start over with her and my husband who doesn't really get along with her had a very long talk. Only took them 12 year's but at least they did it.
My oldest daughter wants to go to the hospital but we decided it would be best for her to stay at school and the teacher's have been informed that my mom is sick and the day of surgery they are going to celebrate my daughter's birthday to sorta keep her side tracked.
Thank you all for your wonderful kind words and support.
This is a scary time for me and my family.
Lots of love and hugs to everyone.

Sounds like you have a plan. Keep up the good work. Your mom is so lucky to have you loving her.
Blessings.
