I just had a unilateral mastectomy and have zero interest in reconstruction or wearing a breast form. I suppose there are times I'll want to wear one-- but I don't understand what the big deal is about going around one-boobed. Why does it freak people out so much? My friends think I'm nuts.

My problem is that my remaining boob is a D-cup and I can't find a one-cupped bra to wear. All of the mastectomy bras assume you'll wear a prosthetic. For those of you going form-free with one breast, how do you support the remaining breast???

I am bilateral with no reconstruction too. I am fairly small boned.  This topic has intrigued me for awhile, as I try to reconstruct my wardrobe.  I am not a seamstress, but wish I were!  I was a C cup with breasts, but since I am small boned, my chest area is pretty small.

I will wear the layered look with a tank top, or camisole underneath tshirts, blouses; I look for the ones which are not low cut.  They are sometimes hard to find, so when I find them, I buy a few!  I like to wear them b/c not only do they feel nice, but they give an extra layer, texture.

The blouses the I like the best have no darts, and are cut in at the waist (I am sure there is a name for that, but I don't know it!).  Then if I button the shirt up half way, it fits me at the waist, looks more tailored and not baggy.

I can buy a v neck shirt or sweater and wear the tank underneath so it covers up the space where my breasts used to fill.  I will buy shirts which have pockets on the front, textured shirts with patterns.

Re the night time, lingerie..I wear tank tops or camisoles with fun bottoms.  I had a cute short slip like item, but the straps were too long with no breasts, so I shortened the straps and it worked.

Such an adventure we are on!
