Is this just me, or does it happen to everyone ?

It started last w/end. My heating system packed in, no engineer available 'til next week, so I have been shivvering all week, going to bed in old tracky bottoms and sweaters, and everyone living in one room on an evening, around the log burning stove.

At about the same time, my main washer packed in, booked engineer, he never turned up, am waiting for another day next week.

Luckily I have a second washer which I keep to wash dog blankets and working clothes in, so thats been doing extra work all week, but today that started to make a very funny groaning noise...still working though..so I will work it 'til it drops now !

Two weeks ago, just 3 days out of its insurance, my dryer died. If only I had remembered to renew last year. (thanks, Arimidex) I pulled out an old dryer from the back of the garage, and am using that, but its so small. I went out last w/end and bought a big Whirlpool dryer, gets it home, realises it won't fit our electric system, has to be wired straight into its own socket, and, you've guessed it, my electrician can't come til next week!!

And the final straw, my dishwasher won't turn off...I suppose it would go for a month if I let it, so, here we go again, no-one can come out 'til next week.

DH says 'its the way I use things' AARRGGHH. IS there a right and wrong way to use things ??? All I do is press a button, so maybe I press it 'wrongly'!!! LOL.

I am going to be busy next week I won't get anything done, all I hope is that I get some nice fit tradesmen to oogle.... he he he.

    Isabella.

Isabella, I understand!!  This was year's ago, but when my daughter was an infant and I had just gotten home from the hospital, of course the toilet overflowed.  Call large plumbing company, plumber came out, baby crying (she had colic).  Plumber leaves, washing machine overflows.  Call it into company, same plumber on the roster tells dispatcher he will come out, baby crying, mom crying (me).  I proceed to have a complete breakdown, tell the plumber how my baby won't stop crying, I don't know what to do (well. . . she was my first baby).  He spends about 45 minutes with me telling me how it will all be okay, she'll be fine, etc., etc., etc.  He was a very kind man - I still get embarrassed remembering this incident!Embarassed

In our first house, we've had no less than 6 incidents of broken water pipes or other water problems.  Whoever built it put the house on a slab and the pipes in the ceiling--without proper insulation and we live in the coldest city in the state.  We've replaced carpet every time, only the first time did we not have proper ins.  (we were ripped off as stupid first time homeowners)

Then!  Every Christmas, without fail, some major appliance has broken down on Christmas Eve.  On the plus side we live in a small town and people will actually come out to help you thru this--like a furnace or oven.

Right when we thought we were getting out of debt from bc the gremlins attacked out house to this past year.  First the refrigerator went, then the hot water heater - which meant I was walking around in about an inch of water as it leaked throughout the whole house.  Then the dryer went.  Oh and of course a few days later the washer did the same thing.  My breaks on my car went out a few days after that.  ]

Sending hugs your way and hoping those gremlins go someplace else.
