I was quite happy with my lymphedema therapist, Carmen at Celebration Hospital (near DisneyWorld). Carmen helped my LE swelling reduce, as well as taught my husband MLD. She was pleasant, professional, encouraging and greatly increased my health and quality of life. Carmen helped with LE diet restrictions and education, compression garment measurements and more.
My first LE therapist, who I saw only once and who was not at Celebration Hospital, told me that she does not believe in teaching MLD to patients. So I switched to Celebration Hospital and was quite happy with Carmen, my LE therapist there.
If you go to Celebration Hospital for your LE therapy, and if it is not covered by your insurance, you might want to ask if there is a discount if you pay for therapy the same day you receive it. When I had my LE therapy about a year ago, the same day payment discount was huge.
Best wishes for good health!

Hi, trigeek,
Sorry you're needing a lymphedema (LE) clinic, but GOOD FOR YOU for knowing you'll need "reputable!" Here's a website for locating well-trained LE therapists in your area: www.mylymphedema.com
Click on the Therapist Locator, then follow all the links (there are four). Two of them ask for your zip code and email you with names, the other two list them right on-line. I just tried it last week to see how well the two email ones worked and they both got back to me the next day. All four links are to LE training programs approved by the National Lymphedema Network, so their listed grads have at least 135 hours of specifically LE training beyond their PT or OT (or MT or RN or MD) certification. For more information on Therapy or on Therapist Training, see the Position Papers on those subjects at the National Lymphedema Network web site: www.lymphnet.org
The relationship is likely to be long-term, so it pays to find one you trust and can talk to easily. In my experience, LE therapists as a whole are a special breed of true heroes, genuinely caring and generous with their time and information. Get a great one!

Thanks for the responses. Luckily I do not have lymphedema but have 6 nodes removed and my docs want me to get full axil dissection. I am very active and would like to make sure that I know about how to protect myself from L beast. I was referred to FL Hospital in Lake Mary but do not know the name of the person that I will be seeing.

Trigeek, I went to the lady in Lake Mary as well. It has been a while..her name is Karen? Kathy?..or something like that
I liked her. I had cording probs blocking up the lymph fluid. She resolved the prob. so I haven't been back.
Good luck.
