Hi Ladies,

I'm an oldie who has not been on for a long time. My last bone scan showed that there is a suspicious lesion  in my left humerus. I had a Pet scan yesterday and needless to say I am sick worrying about the results.  Has anyone ever had anything to do with their humerus. I would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks,

Geech

Hi Geech, I'm no expert, but did work for a group of orthopedics for 13 years and I do know it would be very unusual for bone mets to show up first in the upper arm (humerus).  Usually it appears first in the pelvic area or femur (hip & upper leg) or spine.  I am hopeful for you that it is some old injury or something simple!  Good luck!

Hi Geech well I also have been told its  in my left Humerus, so yes it can go there this was shown on PET   scan it didn turn up on CT or bone scan...I also have it in the femur ,pelvis in this area also...and the Sternum...and all this showed up on the PET scan and nothing else so I wonder if its because the PET picks it up when its sooooo small? would love to know..

Geech, I had a broken left humerus from an accident several years ago. It shows suspicious on a scan but it's only arthritis. I've always thought bone mets would show up other places first or at least also. I bet there's nothing to it. Prayers for you. I know it's worrisome.

Thanks Ladies for your response.  This showed up on all scans but the MRI was the one they said should be followed up further so they did the Pet Scan which I have not heard anything yet, probably Monday.  Have any of you had to take  chemo or rads for this.I did have a very bad fall on my left side many many years ago and have told all my doctors this but they don't seem to think it's from that. I was told by my onc it is from my breast cancer ,I pray it is not. I can't understand since I had no lymphnode involvement on that side.

    Take care,

Well I got the results of my pet scan and I most likely will have to h ave biopsys to the humerus and T6 in my spine.  Did you go to a orthopedic surgeon or did the radiologist do it.  My med doc talked to the radiologist who does do biopsys but said it is the onc's call.  Can anyone tell me what the biopsy is like, is it painful?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

    Thanks

    Geech
