I dont think you have to have all the symptoms. But you have 2 and thats enough for you to follow thru and get it checked. As a matter of fact Im not trying to scare you but cancer is a serious disease and I think 2 wks is to long to wait. Call them and demand more prompt attention or go somewhere else.

I would agree with kimmie39 that 2 weeks is a long time to wait.  Not just because of the cancer, but because of what the waiting will put you through.  There will be times that you won't have a choice but to wait, this shouldn't be one of those times.  I just had a double max on Halloween because of cancer in both breasts.  The only symptom I had was a bruise on my right breast, which wasn't even where the cancer started.  I would definitely push to get a sooner appt.  Sometimes all you have to do is say you would like something sooner and they will find you something, that is what I had to do.  Remind them that if something is going on that the sooner it is diagnosed the better!  Take care and let us know how things go.

    Karen:

The only symptom that I had was a dermatitis looking mass on my breast no other symptoms.

I think its terrible that they are making you wait that long to get in to see a breast doc.

    Keep us posted!

Hi, I am from the UK too and if a doctor suspects bc then you should be seen within two weeks at the breast clinic for a mammo and ultrasound. This is the law.

Many doctors, unfortunately, are not familiar with IBC so you need to go back to your GP and tell him to refer you urgently.

I am not an IBC sufferer but have had bc which affected my skin and was told it was eczema for months. Fortunately, I was finally diagnosed properly and treatment has got rid of my cancer. I can't help but think though that if I had been treated earlier I would not have had to go through such rigorous chemo as I've been through.

sue---I'm always amazed at the number of women being told it was only "only eczema".  I've had eczema my entire life (along with many other family members--very strong history of it ) in many different areas of the body, but never the breasts.  I don't think that is a common area for eczema, but perhaps general physicians don't know that (dermatologists should).

    Karen:

Unreal it should not matter what type of coverage you have bc let alone ibc is nothing to mess around with.  If you doc has never heard of ibc he should google it or come to this web site. If this was someone in his family you can bet that they would get in ASAP.

    Just my two cents.

    Good luck with your appointment.

Ive had those symptoms before. But Im sure you will be okay when you go to the doctors. If you have any serious pain and discharge , go to the emergency room to check it out. Praying for you.

Karen, I am so sorry!!!  (((((HUG)))))

It is a scary time, but if it is indeed cancer, it is good to be diagnosed and start treatment!  This is truly a wonderful place for information and support.  Keep us posted, and we'll pray that it is the 10% chance that it isn't cancer.  The waiting is horrible, isn't it.  Good luck and be happy.  I heard a wonderful quote that says, "The day some people find out they have a terminal illness they begin to die.  Others begin to live."  Keep living each day.

Karen, Good luck to you.  Are you having a single or double mast?  I am 4 weeks out from my surgery, and I am almost back to normal.  It is hard battle, but you are strong, and can do it!!!  Best of luck, and visit this site often.  It helps to connect with others who are going through the same thing as you.
