? 2 time possible cancer

i have had the past several yrs. fibrocystic breast with at times questionable! some how the previous hospital misplaced or lost my mamograms for the past six yrs. i was sent to a different place which does digital mamograms. my left breast, the one to be checked was okay. however, in doing this, they found some very small ones on my right side which were not detected by my doctor. the doctor showed me the ultra sound and mamo. i was told i should consider getting a biopsy done. however, i could wait six months to see if there are any changes. i asked him if he thought it would be okay to wait. he stated it was my decision. the cycst on my left breast had a dark color but, the ones on my right side were white looking. not sure what to do. or what does all this mean.

Is it possible to have an MRI performed as more senisitive technology than mammography? Since they already recommended getting a biopsy done why wait with the anxiety? If there is something significant than early treatment is the best plan of action. If a bc is present then waiting will not make it go away.

Usually if the doctor gives you a choice of waiting 6 months to see what happens, or having a biopsy now, it means that the doctor doesn't think that it's cancer but can't be sure. If the doctor was very concerned, he'd insist that you have the biopsy now. So that all sounds good.
Still, I agree with longshot. If it were me, rather than wait and worry for 6 months, I'd opt to have the biopsy now. That way, if it is benign, you'll be able to relax and get on with your life without worrying about what might happen in 6 months.
Good luck!

Hey there, am a two time bc lady, undergoing the second stuff right now...I'd get the biopsy, pronto. It doesn't hurt, just novocaine and then it's pretty quick, the worst part is waiting on the results.
I had calcifications that no one thought were anything, they did biopsy them (they show up white) as they can be or not. They were!!! Thank god i went ahead with the biopsy. This time, I had an MRI dictated by the fact that I already had cancer. The mammo was perfect, so was an ultrasound. But the MRI found a small invasive cancer that was totally hidden by everything else. This includes many the blood test to check for cancer flags, and drs. visits, etc.
I am so not trying to scare you, it's probably benign, but my point here is, it's just a biopsy, 20 minutes vs. what could be your life. If you catch it early (and you'd be really early) it's the best of all possible worlds and minimal treatment. Please please please, if I can pass on any good to you at all................get it biopsied!!!!

O.K. I agree with anniebelle. Have it biopsied. The first time I was dx. the drs. said why don't we wait 6 mos. and recheck it then. I said no I'm not comfortable with that, I want a biopsy. And that was when biopsies were a full excision. No needle biopsies back then. Good thing I did. It was cancer and I was only 32. A biopsy now is nothing....get it done!
