I liked my wigs in the winter and hated them in the summer. You do get used to them. And I also worried about the airport security thing as I fly a lot. Take it from me, the buzzer will NOT go off with a normal wig, even with extra bobby pins in place! But DO be sure to get the arm compression sleeve. I can tell you from experience, if I forget to use it, a few days later I get mild swelling. If I do use it, I never get any swelling. Good luck!

Hi I too had long hair before treatment.  I bought 2 wigs that went to my waist and some short ones and some mid length ones. I bought a lot - only one real hair wig. I ws devastated when my hair finally fell out. NOW I really was a cancer patient. I also had my head buzzed.  I live in a small town, so e1 knew I was losing my hair.  I wear my long wigs and love them. I actually love all of my wigs and change style and color based on my mood that day. In a small town it is also cool because I can finally go out incognito when I don't feel like talking to anyone about bc.  I will say that It doesn't matter which wig I wear, none of them are tolerable all day...  they itch too much.  I use a wig cap and a thick headband to keep the itchy mesh away from parts of my scalp - that helps me.  Good Luck!!!

I have one wig in real hair which I got from the public health care system here in Sweden. It's nice, but I've only wore it about four times. I just couldn't be arsed to take care of it so I wore scarves instead. Now I have about a centimeter of hair and wear a hat outdoors because it's getting cold, indoors I'm usually bare-headed.

I learned the hard way that getting a wig from a shop where you can try many on is a much better way than ordering (blindly) online.  At the very least, know what size you need.  It turned out I have a petite head (WHO KNEW!?!) and my wigs were too big for me.  I visited a shop and tried on several.  Then a stylist cut it to fit my face when I bought it.  The wig experience was so much better.  Better wigs, better fit, more confident me.
I have read several places that a real hair wig is not better than synthetic.  Just more expensive.  I have to say, it's all about fit and the additional shaping that make it better.  I work in sales, so I couldn't ALWAYS go bald, although I loved it.  Sometimes you just want to look "normal."

Best of luck, and even though it's a short time you'll be bald, don't settle, and don't let anyone else make your decisions for you.  It's all about you right now.
