Oogy Feeling II

It's a bad time of year for me.
After the Halloween ordeal, coinciding with my start of chemo, and the horrible feelings it evoked in me to see the stacks of trick or treat pails. THIS week I had my picture taken for my driver's license.
My license renews around my b'day, which is this month. It is also the time when it finally starts getting really chilly.
So in one license pic, I'm wearing a blaze orange hunting jacket.
Then it became a tradition for me, to wear bright orange to have my license picture taken.
I said "Boy, time flies! It seems I just HAD my picture taken!Doesnt seem like 10 years!"The official said "Not 10 years.Every 4 years."
OOOGY FEELING, and it all came back to me: I raced to have my pic taken 4 years ago, because I still had hair.It was due to start dropping out after my second tx.And I looked at the picture-horror show! TERRIBLE, crazy haircut!UGLY picture! But hey! I had not only hair, thick dark hair that was almost straight. But I had EYEBROWS and lashes aplenty! No wonder I never learned to put makeup on.My eyes needed nothing!I wore a traditional blaze orange t-shirt.
Then I went through the procedures, flummoxed by the oogy feeling.Four years ago, I was starting tx.Not actually knowing if I was going to live much longer....
Then the woman handed me my new license. And know what?
I was really pleased! My blaze orange t-shirt had a line of small, spooky ghosts on it (which glow in the dark).
Thank goodness I thought to draw in some eyebrows and lashes with some eye crayon I found in my drawer.I'd also brushed my hair, and put on gold hoop earrings.I'd washed my hair 2 days before, and let it dry in a ponytail that was rubberbanded into a knot atop my head.(My '00s version of the 60s tin cans as rollers, for straightening hair?)And my hair looked really nice, not all BOZO.
My skin looked wonderful, my color was great.I looked thinner.
In fact, I look muuuuuch nicer than I did 4 years ago, eyebrows or not!
(Of course I was on chemo 4 years ago...)
But I got into my car and punched air, and said to myself "You go Girl!"
Dont know what will happen down the road, but I beat that devil, and I lived through chemo.I lost my eye hair, but gained some even better eating habits and a wonderful little dog who keeps me in fighting shape, and my life is shining.
So--Get the hell out of here, ya oogy feeling!Forget you!

joan, i just love how you express yourself, and love that story. orange sure beats pink.. you have a great sense of humor! ps. i did the tin can thing in the 60's. wanted to look like MARY of peter and paul. cans didn't work to well, so i ironed it..straight like a poker. NO MORE OOGIES..
-
Joan-You go girl! I agree-no more oogies. I also love the orange but then I love in East Tennessee and it is Big Orange country. Go Vols! Anyway, I think you are great and such an inspiration. I still thing about the granny panties every time I start to put mine on.
Glad you have a pal that can keep you company. Love ya, Bonny

OKAY, OKAY I KNOW I MUST BE LOSING IT! Where's the first page? I'm on the second page, right? Am I in the twilight zone!?
Shirley
I'll be back later to see if I'm indeed GONE!
-
Oh, crap, I AM LOSING IT. This is part II!
Shirley
Okay, Joan, I'm about to read your post.

Awwww, Joan. What a great post.
HOWEVER, I HATE my new driver's license. I was done with chemo, my hair had not be frosted yet...came in an ugly brown, they did a very close up which made my face look even FATTER!, made me take off my glasses because of the glare, therefore seeing the eyes too much...I HATE MY PICTURE! I look like my MOTHER for Pete's sake!
I've been tempted to go to the license place, tell them I lost my license, pay the extra money and get a new picture. Is that vain or what? I HATE MY PICTURE! I've never liked them, but this is horrible. I HATE MY PICTURE. But'cha know what, I am ALIVE!
Luv ya Joan. You ALWAYS make me smile. Even when you're in a bad mood. LOL

Biondi YOU did cans in the 60s?What were you--the coolest kid in 3rd grade?
LOL I wanted to look like Joan Baez.Had a better chance than I do now, since Joan's hair wasnt perfectly straight like Mary's.
Awwww I got my twin grandsons an adorable blue dragon music box that played Puff the Magic Dragon, when they were born.
No more oogies!!
Bonny, happy to see you, and to think about lots of orange!Go Vols!!!
And I have been tossing my granny panties out when the elastics get too worn.Nobody needs that many dust cloths! So I went to replace, and in honor of most of the girls' sentiments, got high-legged bikinis.
(LOL.Yeah, right, they ride under my belly.Too bad because they're in really nice patterns and I cant see them!
)
Keep smiling!!(What else can we do?)
Shirley, my license was commemorative in that it was taken at chemo start, before my hair fell out.So I could see that it really wasnt Bozo-curly.And that I DID have eyebrows, and lashes.
But it was SO ugly!!And the office was really crowded and I didnt have the nerve to request a retake.(THIS time, NO ONE was there! And the lady was an artistic type. She literaly posed me, so that wow!I look almost human, after 3 takes!!)
But SISTER!!Believe me Shirley, I wanted MANY times to say I lost it & pay for a new license.
Then my chance came.Last fall my wallet was stolen.
So AAA went into their computer and made me a new license--complete with the hideous picture.
Dont worry. In a couple of years you'll get a new one and you'll look SO wonderful!!
Good! I'm happy I can perform one useful function--making my friend Shirley laugh!

woo-Hoo, way to go!~!!!!

Rock on, Joan!
I had to take a passport photo BALD, but never did use it. We were planning a trip to Scotland to visit dd during her semester abroad, during the few weeks between chemo and rads, but about a month before the trip we found out that dh needed coronary bypass surgery, so the trip was cancelled. Now 4 years later we're planning a trip to Israel in the spring - I will definitely get a new pic taken.
PS I also did the tin can thing in the 60's, when I was in HS!
