Amoena contact form love it!
Hi girls,
I stopped into my fitter today-by the way, I love my fitter! If you are in the NJ area and you want the best fitter ever go to Sylene's in Lawrenceville, NJ. Ask for Cindy. Up until today I have been wearing ABC forms and have loved them. While I was there she had me try on the Amoena Tresia Personally Contact form (643). OMG! I love it! I resisted the forms that sit directly against the chest because for some reason I did not think they would work for me. But....This form is great! While I was there I bought a couple non-mast. bras since with this form I will not need pocketed bras. I will still wear the ABC since I do have lots of mast. bras and also there is a cover that can go on this form so that I could put it in a pocketed bra if I wanted to. Anyway, I am sure some women have already discovered this form but I figured I would post to encourage others to try it even if you think you don't want one sitting directly against your chest. I cannot feel it sitting there and it moves with me. I can even bend over and not worry about my form pulling away from my chest. All afternoon I have been pulling my shirt up and checking out my new bra. Don't you love when you find something that works?!

Carol,
Good for you!!! I wear the Amoena Tria Contact Lite most of the time and also really love it. The stickiness does decline a bit with time but it still sticks enough to be able to use regular bras. It's definitely important to me to be able to wear regular bras since I haven't found a mastectomy bra yet that fits me right.
To date, I've used the special soap that comes with the form but I'm starting to run low. Does anyone know if it makes a difference if I use regular hand soap instead of the special Amoena soap?

Susan,
According to my fitter, she will sell me the special Amoena soap but she said that it is just regular soap so it really doesn't matter.

Carol, thanks for reporting on this and glad you like the new form! I'm especially interested that it works for you, since, if I remember correctly, you had radiation after your mastectomy. I've worried that contact forms wouldn't work on my radiated side, though my skin on that side appears fine.
One question with the Tria or Tresia, though. How do you position it so that it fits correctly in whatever bra you choose? With only a single mastectomy, I guess you can line it up with your natural breast. Is that right? Or do you put your bra on first and then "insert" the form? Do you think these forms would be hard to use with bilaterals? I know the Tria Plus, which uses skin supports, works for bilats, but not sure the Tria or Tresia would work, too. Also, how do you remove the form? Is it hard to "pull" off?
I feel as if I've asked these questions before, but would appreciate your input again (I didn't have chemo, but still my brain is like a sieve!). Thanks.
p.s. I just got back from a two-week vacation, one week of which was hiking. For hiking, I wore my Still You camisole with Amoena 126 leisure forms, but for everything else I wore my Airway Tritex forms with the microfiber backs in regular bras. The Airways look great and do stay in place, but at times (like when I had a cold and was coughing a lot) I felt a little insecure and worried that they would shift. That's why a contact form sounds so appealing.
p.p.s. I hiked with a group of 18 couples and among them was another woman who had recently had bilateral mastectomies and no reconstruction. This made me realize, yet again, how many of us are out there.

Yes, I did have radiation but so far it seems ok. I have only had it for a day but this morning I just positioned it so that it was even with my remaining breast. However, when I put my bra on it needed a little adjusting/repositioning. I think that given a short time I will know exactly where to put it.
Not having a bilateral I am not sure if it would be difficult but it does seem like there is an advantage with having a remaining breast so that the form can be lined up. My fitter also sold me a set of stick on nipples. The bras that I bought have pretty thin fabric so in order to look balanced I really needed one on the fake side.
When I took it off last night I did so pretty slowly and it was not that bad. It is definitely a strange sensation. I am hoping that it is a feeling that I will get used to.

I am not able to use adhesive, I break out and get raw from band aids, and when I had to have a mastectomy and it had to be bandaged with adhesive I was in so much pain the doctor had to finally wrap me in an ace bandage, I got raw from the adhesive and it caused me much pain, has anyone else had this problem.

Carol,
Just wondering how you're doing with the contact form now that you've had it for a while. Do you still like it? Has it gotten even easier to use? I hope so!

Hey Barbara,
Well, actually, I used it for a few days in a row at first. I definitely like it but I really need to get some new non-mast. bras to use with it. I just have not had a chance. Taking it off is definitely a strange feeling but not that bad. So, yes, I still like it but have not really used it everyday. I go back and forth between the contact form and the regular ABC form. I do think it will come in handy when I decide to wear something that is lower cut.
-
Hi Girls,
I am wondering how long after surgery should you wait before using the contact forms. I was told to wait a year but my chest has healed very well. I had surgery the end of June and finished radiation about a month ago. I would love the contact one because as you say if you wear a lower cut blouse you have to be very careful about bending over.
How long was it for you?
Thanks
Weet

I was also told to wait at least a year. I had my mast. in July '06 and rads ended Sept. '06 so I waited a year and one month after rads was complete.

Hi there..it is time for me to get a new prosthesis..this sounds interesting..How much do they cost ???

My single contact form was $399.
