Hi Caligal,
I was diagnosed with Triple Positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma a week after my 35 birthday. It has been 2 1/2 years since I was diagnosed. I had a partial mastectomy and Sentinal Node Biopsy with 11+ /15 lymphnodes removed... I reoccured 6 months later and it actually came back as Inflammatory Breast Cancer and affected everywhere they cut.....I completed 3 months of DD treatments A/C and could only complete 5 Taxol/Herceptin treatments due to kidneys....I stayed on Herceptin and Femara w/ monthly Lupron shot for 1.5 years and was doing well. Just 3 weeks ago I found out it has gone to my bone, my sternum and the secondary activity has come back....so now I am on Navelbine/Herceptin and still on Lupron shot. Navelbine has been hard for me, because I am experiencing what only a few experience which is Intestinal Neuropathy...intense abdomenal pain....I just got a prescription for Bentyl yesterday and it is helping, tho it makes me quite dizzy! I always seem to get all the rare side effects.....it figures....
Despite it all I am very positive, and you should be too...I have a beautiful 12 year old daughter and am managing to still teach my Preschoolers 3 days a week, however sometimes it is quite a challenge to get through the afternoon.....I won't know the results of Navelbine until my next scan, but hoping Tumor Markers will show a drop next week....we will see!
Hang in there.....

ok I am a newbie so all of the abbreviations what do they mean? I was diagnosed Sept 18th and had surgery 2 days after my 38th birthday (happy birthday!!, but at least they got all of the cancer. now just waiting.....

HI...
I have what you do.

Wait...should that have been a smiley face? haha
Had a double mastectomy about 6 weeks ago, so no radiation.
Ong. suggest we do nothing else. (confused face).
I am getting a second opinion. Not that I WANT chemo...I don't. But, I'm only 40. Have kids that I want to see grow up.

btw: Google "Neuvac". I sounds SO promising for us Her2 gals.
Good luck to you!

Hi girls, I think we've posted before. I am 36 with 4mm IDC, HER2+, grade 3. No nodes involved. I had a lumpectomy, then mastectomy. I'm waiting for a second opinion, but leaning towards no chemo. My onc. is not pushing me for chemo either. He says my prognosis is very good. I have 2 kids age 2 and 5, and plan on being here to see them both grow up. itslisalouwho... I tried to e-mail you the other day and don't know if you got it or not.

Hi, here's me:
Dx 2002 (so treated with CAF instead of newer chemo's), then rads to affected breast daily x 7 weeks, then tamoxifen x 1 3/4 years until I found out that it can be hazardous for HER2's. Recent news is that taxanes (TCH treatment) is supposedly especially effective for HER2's who are ER+.
1.6 cm Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma Stage 1 (T1c) grade 3
NED (means No Evidence of Recurrence)
Never had Herceptin
Best to you,
AlaskaAngel
Doing fine...

Hi,
Stage 1, grade 3, triple postive IDC; multi-focal--largest 1.2cm, but over 2cm in the aggregate, plus DCIS in bilateral breast. Only good news was that I was node negative. I am treating this aggressive cancer very aggressively. Bilateral matectomy, chemo (TCH), herceptin until 8/09. I do not have to have radiation because of node neg. status.
AlaskaAngel, please tell me more about tamoxifen and HER2+. My onc is planning to put me on tomoxifen.
Best,
Carolina -
Yes AlaskaAngel I too am triple pos. Idc Stage 1 Grade 3 and was told my next step after 4 DD A/C, 12 Taxol/Herceptin, Herceptin until May 08 and 33 Rads was 5 years of tomoxifen. What is it about tamoxifen and Her2+++ ?

While it is true that the efficacy of Tamoxifen in the HER2 population is debated, some of the top oncologists in the country still prescribe it to their patients that are pre-menopausal, ER/PR+ and HER2+. It would probably be best to have a discussion with your oncologist and voice your concerns rather than panic.

i was diagnosed with er/pr her2 +++++++, in 10/2004, right mastectomy with tramp flap reconstruction, sentinal node postive, 41/2 TAC chemo, then 6 months later 1 year of herceptin, then after being on tamoxifen for about 6 months, i had to have a full hystorectomy, so now i am on arimidex. but i am so sad all the time, i have had no luck with antidepressants they make me to anxious, sicky, so i take ativan x 2 daily, ambien cr, restoril intermittantly. i have "0" libido, have NO JOY, i am wondering if it is that i don't have any hormones? is that possible. I am so lost, my quality of life is very low. i have wonderful support husband, kids, I am only 43, I used to be crazy, but now I feel really crazy

Hi all
I was diagnosed June 2006.I am ER/PR+ and HER2+++.I had 2 cm IDC with 6/19+ nodes.I had bilateral mastectomy in July 2006,4 DD AC and 4 DD Taxotere then 7 months of Herceptin which had to be stopped due to heart damage.I am currently on Femara.I was terrified when first diagnosed with HER2 but we have sooo many weapons to help us fight off the beast.I didn't have radiation, was told nothing to radiate, hope they were correct.

My pathology was, 1.3cm tumor, triple positive, grade 3, node negative, lymphovascular negative. I threw the kitchen sink at my cancer... dd AC & T, one year of Herceptin, 34 rads and now, 5 years of Aromasin. I was premeopausal and chemo put me into menopause (blood test every 6 months to make sure). I am also the 12th person on my mom's side of the family to get bc, so I have seen it all... this is another reason why I was so aggressive.
Best of luck to you.

My mom had Stage 1 IDC, no node involvement, clear margins, complete mastectomy, chemo 4 rounds A/C, even though they said she didn't need it. She is Her2+++, no herceptin given to her back then as she didn't have mets. Today she has mets to bones and liver, so I guess chemo didn't do a thing even though they said she really didn't need it. She was clear on her scans in Oct 06, she found out about extensive mets in Sept 07. So Her2 gene is very very agressive.
