Breast Tender, Help?

Hi Everyone,



My name is Denise, I'm 25 years old and I recently had a breast abscess removed about a month ago. But since then my right breast in which the abscess was removed has been tender and last night my breast felt a little itchy. What I don't understand is why did this occur after the surgery? Because my breast wasn't tender before I had the abscess removed, it just pained really BAD in the area of the abscess. But I'm very scared that this maybe a bad case of IBC. I feel so lost, what should I do?

    Ive never had an abscess. Two breast problems two cases of cancer. But if you feel the itching is not coming from the breast healing (the only thing I can think of) then I would see a Doc and insist on some answers. Do not accept "Lets wait and see". I think its reasonable to take a antibiotic for 7 days and then if there is no improvement push forward. The problem as I see it isnt the 7 days on an antibiotic its the way the doc goes forward (or not) when there is no improvement or the breast gets worse. Also if there are IBS symptoms you will need a core biopsy. Mammo and ultrasound routinely show clear (mine did).  IM NOT A DOC THESE ARE MY OPINIONS ONLY.  Go with your gut!!

    Thanks for your comment. I feel better today but I will keep an eye on this. Another question, I don't think my doc sent the abscess to pathology. Should I tell him to send it?

    It would not hurt to have your doc send the abscess to pathology.  It would give you a peace of mind.
