I watched Monday Night football last night and was surprised that the wife of Brett Favre is a BC survivor and has written a book. Now that I am nearly a year out of diagnosis, I would like to read some positive informative memoirs of some BC survivors. Anyone recommend some good ones?

She was dx not too long ago actually.  As far as memoirs, I think it depends on what you relate with...

I loved 'Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, by Geralyn Lucas (the book not the lifetime movie) b/c I could relate to her.

There are so many different memoirs.  The first date back to the best seller 'First You Cry' by Betty Rollins who was dx in 1974 when the big C wasn't talked about.

I also liked 'the Victorias secret catalogues don't stop coming'

My suggestion is to go to Borders or Barnes and Nobles, and look through the selection.  It's quite large.

A positive feel good book is Chicken Soup for the breast cancer survivors soul.

Also, Betty Rollins latest book- that I can't recall the name- is all about how failures and surviving cancer shaped her life...

Betty Rollin's book is called 'First You Cry'-- I read it back in the 70's when I was a teen. It moved me, not sure how it compares to the more modern books, but she was a pioneer.

I also liked 'uplift' because it gave good hints to get yourself through the treatments. And I read the 'Lipstick' book 2 days prior to my bilat surgery and again after my surgery.

Here's Betty's first book on breast cancer - first you cry. It's probably an interesting read for those interested in the historical perspective from the 70's before breast cancer was widely spoken about.  I didn't know about her newer one.  http://www.amazon.com/First-You-Cry-Betty-Rollin/dp/0060956305
