er pr positive, HER2 Positive

Anyone else have this?  Just had lumpectomy on Oct 9th. Stage I.  tumor under 2cm grade 3.  premenopausal 38 yr old.  Wondering what your treatment is.  My doc is consulting with his colleagues and I my appointment is in a week and a half.

    Hi Caligal,



    While I have (had) IDC which was ER+, it was HER-. I've been on hormonals, first Tamoxifen then Arimidex.



    I think they most likely will offer you treatment for ER+ with hormones like Arimidex, Letrazole, Exemastane. And I would suspect, because you have invasive HER+ disease, they would discuss Herceptin with you.

    It depends on your tumor size also, but here's what I know...  ER/PR+ responds best to tamoxifen if premenopausal especially-- so you'll probably get 5 years of that.  Herceptin is best for HER2+, but is given only in conjunction with chemo.  B/C you are HER2+, you'll be offered that.  Now here's the controversy I've discovered b/c I'm going through it myself...  I was told if a HER2+ tumor is larger than 1cm chemo is strongly recommended for stage 1, if it's under 1 cm (like mine), it's controversial to do chemo.  I am waiting to get a second opinion on this.  Radiation may be used if you just had lumpectomy, probably not used if you had mastectomy.  You can e-mail if you want to keep in touch or talk more.  I'm 36 and dx in August.  I just has a left mastectomy on Oct. 5.

    I'm ER/PR positive and HER2 positive and was 39 at diagnosis this summer. Mine is more advanced, stage III and 7/8 nodes positive, so I had 4 dose-dense rounds of Adriamycin/Cytoxan and am now on 12 weekly Taxol/Herceptin. I'll continue to get Herceptin for a year, along with Tamoxifen for five years. I had right breast mastectomy in July.



    From what I've been hearing and seeing, the size and grade of the tumor plays a big role in if chemo is recommended or not. With grade 3, my guess is that they probably would recommend it, but you never know. If you do decide to do chemo, know that all the sisters on this board will help you through it. These ladies have been a godsend to me. It helps so much to talk to people who know exactly what you are going through.

    I was 38 at diagnosis am 43 now.  I had her2 positive, er postive grade 3, 3 positive nodes.  I had chemo.  a/c plus taxotere in 2003.  I had a mastectomy.  My opinion is if you have a grade 3 you want to throw everything in the arsenal at it the first time so that hopefully God willing there won't be a second time.  You never know but I wanted to do the most thorough thing at the time it was chemo.  I had my ovaries out and am now on Arimidex.  God Bless and best of luck to you.

    hi ladies, just wanted to share that myself included with her2 pos er pos and er pos.  i am 42 new to this board,  guess i will soon start chemo.  i have grade 3, 2cm t  but node neg. did bilat with recon surgery. now must start the next part of the journey.  thinking about having my ovaries also. worried about what treatment will be offered.

    so glad to have found this support

    I was diagnosed triple positive (er+, pr+, her2+) two years ago now.  I was 38. I had DD A/C, then the 12 weeks of taxol + herceptin and then did herceptin alone.  I had an ooph after chemo and have been on Arimidex for 18 months now.  For me the "chemopause" was much worse than my now official menopause. I had bilateral DIEP (flap) reconstruction just over a year ago.  I must say- the results of the recon were a pleasant surprise- they look awesome!

    For those of you on Tamoxifen- I would ask your onc about ovarian suppression and aromatase inhibitors (Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin).  The thinking is this may be better for us er+, her2+ gals.  I also highly recommend the her2support.org website.

    Hi there

    I have just this morning been told myself that I am Her2 + but havent asked any questions as it was 8am this morning its likely I will have chemo ,I have an appt with the specialist on Friday at 17:30 pm so I will no more then .It is true it depends on the grade .

    Please dont forget there is many of us out there in the same position I wish I could help you more

    I was dx triple positive 6/06. I had 2cm stage 2 grade 2 stage 2(lol)IDC. I did 4 dose dense AC and 4 dose dense Taxotere. I did 7 months of Herceptin and had to stop due to heart damage. I wanted to hit the beast with all I could,I even had a bilateral and wanted rads but they said no need.

    Hello Everyone, i had mastectomy (left) and as prescribed Tamoxifen a week after and stopped taking after 3 days gave me s terrible headache every early evening onwards. I am on food that helps me regulate my ER+. I guess im good for now cause i dont wanna feed myself any poison. I already have had not took myself seriously well which causes this disease. Have a good one to all.
