Hi Carrie,
I do not have IBC but welcome you to our support system. Wonderful news that your chemo is done. As your surgery approaches you may have questions or concerns, feel free to post them, someone will anwer and help you through this.
I bet your young son is starting to be a going concern. I love that age group. You are so number one to a baby!
Fists up!

Hi Carrie,
I am sorry that you are dealing with this wretched disease. Congratulations on finishing up your chemo though! That is terrific!
The mast surgery will hopefully not be to awful traumatizing for you. I actually did really well after my surgery. The drains were a pain, but the pain level was very minimal.
The rads were the easiest part for me in this whole process. A pain to daily, but not too bad. There are good medicinal creams as well as pure aloe gel to use. There is a great rads thread on this site.
I am sure it is very tough going through the txs with a young baby. But, of course it gives you lots of encouragement to keep going, finish up your txs, and move ahead. Hang in there sweetie. You are going to get through this and it will get better as time goes on. I am just over two years out from my IBC diagnosis. It really will get better.
Hugs and Prayers,
Lexi

Sounds like you have your hands full.
This site has helped me more than I can tell you. You will receive support and advice and you get it from others who KNOW what its like. Some of us are going thru right along with you and we can lean on each other.
So Im going to ask you a question. What made the oncologist give you chemo both before And after surgery? Im only scheduled for chemo before surgery and Im wondering what the criteria is for having it again after?
Hang in there!!!

Kimmie:
I was given chemo to help shrink the tumor because at the time of dx it was at an inoperative stage.
I also had a second round of chemo after surgery and the reason for it was because I had 9 nodes come back positive for microscopic ca. My medical onc brought my case to the tumor board committee that he is on all the docs agreed that the best course for me was to go through another round of chemo followed by radiation. My onc told me that if I did not have any positive nodes that I would gone straight to radiation.
I hope that this help some.
Hugs from Michigan
