more tests need after my followup visit

Hi guys:

Well, I went to my 6 month follow-up yesterday. The onc suggested a bone scan and xrays because of my sore right elbow and the pain I have in the front of my neck.

So, I will have these again. She seem quite concerned about the neck pain actually.

Suprisingly, I feel quite calm about it all. I am just glad the doctors visit is over. I hate going to the cancer clinic. I see the sign "Cancer Centre" and I feel the anxiety rise.

And, she suggested I stop aromasin and go back on tamoxifen, since I feel so crappy on aromasin. I don't want to go off the AI yet though. I told her I thought maybe my body was still adjusting to having my ovaries out just prior to starting the AI... that my body was adjusting to having all the estrogen sucked out of my body. She laughed and actually agreed with me.

So I am going to a clinic next month to see how to manage my as she put it "severe" menopausal symptoms. Its progress.

Hi Wendy. those follow ups are so necessary yet not fun. I hope all your results turn out to be fine. I just had an MRI biopsy yesterday, and it turned out to be benign.

Good luck, Wendy.  I'm glad your doctor is following through AND that you are able to remain calm.  I'm praying for B9.

Dear Wendy, I'm happy you told your onc, I'm happy she is following it through. And I'm wising hard that everything will turn out fine.

I have mentioned your thread on Hormone Therapy, where quite a few women are responding to someone's thread titled "Neck pain and Arimidex".Seems neck pain isnt so rare.Check it out!

    Best, j

    Thanks everyone.

Joan.. I read your comment on the hormone thread. And I read others with a sore neck. Interesting, isn't it?  It probably is another side effect of hormone deprivation.

Hi Wendy, glad you are following up on your pain.  I had my follow-up the 15th of October and wasn't having any pain and then shortly after my neck started bothering me.  I will keep a close eye on it.  I thought neck pain was pretty common.  Glad to hear your oncologist is being cautious.  Keep us posted and hoping to hear all is fine.  Take Care,  Liz

I had neck and back pain before ever starting tamoxifen or having my ovaries out, but it has definitely increased (along with pain in right shoulder and left hip)--I blame the lack of estrogen from the combination of the two--estrogen lubricates your joints.
