ICE Campaign - "In Case of Emergency" We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign < BR>The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally reco gnized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE."
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!
Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!
Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this . It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest . ICE will speak for you when yo u are not able to.- l

evening all. I to am praying for all those near the fires. I remember how they can be and that they can move very fast.
I've talked to my folks in the Leomita Village area and so far they are safe but the fires are about 5-10 miles away. They said there was no blue sky it was all gray. So if you are in the areas of the fires stay inside and keep a radio going so you know when to leave.
Brenda stay safe.
Has anyone heard from Lisa? I think she should be safe too but am worried.Cheri if you're reading Happy Birthday my friend!
Off to the Onc and chemo tomorrow. Hopefully she'll tell me when the next scans are.
Well got to hit the sack as it's already been a long week. I've already done 4.5 hours of OT
Nite all and be safe
-
SoCalLisa is back in her home after having been evacuated ......
-
Hi everyone..we are back from the shelter..fires are still going so I am keeping our cars packed and ready...our house is still here!!
-
The wind slowed up today and the smoke settled in my town. School was on lockdown, no recesses. Admin. finally cancelled school for the next two days, cancelled the Halloween Carnival, and just looked outdoors and it's BEAUTIFUL!! Bright blue skies. The breeze picked up and blew all of the smoke towards the ocean, but I guess that could change again.
Glad that your home was safe, Lisa.
-
Popping to say Hi, check on the CA gals. I know my SP lives there, but I do not know who she is. If she sees this, I hope you, your loved ones and home are safe.
I am just working, as usual. I did not forget my lessons learned with cancer and I am having some fun too.
Now I am going to read back. I still don't know how to jump to last read post and I know I need to check in more often, so as not to feel lost.
Thinking of the Circle and praying all are well.
Hugs-christine

I am back and read back far enough to know, I am glad that once again, I missed some turmoil. In the early days of the circle, we'd write things like...

Beautiful Fall day here. I am praying for the SoCal girls, anyone who has tests, rads or other tx this week.

wow it really has been quite! So glad Lisa is safe. You don't live far from my folks so I was really worried. The fires were about 3-10 miles from the folks place. they never left but still have things ready if they need to. My sister is staying with them until things settle down. My sister lives up Lake Morina.
Well went into work at the butt crack of dawn today cause I was going to miss most of the day being at the center. As it was my onc held my chemo today and will go on a week by week basis until we can get this old port site to heal. They new site looks really good but the old one is not healing.
She also ordered a CT before Thanksgiving and a bone scan to check my hip cause it is still hurting.
So hopefully we will only find artheritis or bursitis and nothing more. Then she told me go get some luch and take my time getting back to work. she knew I'd head back to work when she cancelled my chemo.
well I'm off to bed
Everyone stay safe
HUgs & Prayers Love ya from Amy to Z

Evening Circle. I am really getting sick of staying in the house with all the doors and windows shut. It is the only way I can keep that ash and smoke out of my house and my lungs.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers during this crazy time. The ash is everywhere now. Hoping for some cooler weather the rest of the week.
-
hi everyone
thongs, denise, angel, amy and all - yep my home is still safe tho when i get back from this business trip our bff says we'll have to do a ton of vaccuming, dusting and hosing off things cuz the ash from the magic, piru, and malibu fires is awful in our area .... but that is a whole lot better then being burned out ...
cy - hugs lady we're still enjoying our washington goodies and best of luck with your scans ... can't believe we all hope it is arthritis (mine was)
socalLisa - so glad your evacuation is over and you are back in your home
christine - pinkstock was so much fun and now that i'm crocheting squares i've emptied out my drawer of misc yarn, 2 grocery bags from a friends stash, two boxes from cherrylH, and scrounging more ... worked out well cuz i've been on a house emptying binge so this worked right in with that "need"
brenda & lini - glad all is ok with you two
jasmine yooouuuu whoooo jas where are you????
hi to everyone A to Z
-
Am so sorry to hear all of you in california are so close to those fires
We are keeping you all in our prayers. We don't have those much in Kansas, oh, we have prairie fires, but NOTHING like what you all experience. We do get those tornadoes though
Anyway, hoping they get those fires put out soon, and that you all stay safe and well, along with all of your families, and houses.
Gracie -
hi gracie ... nice to meet you ... where in kansas are you? (i'm sitting here with my laptop in Overland Park area) .... and i'm glad the tornadoes were done by the time we got here lol
-
Hi everyone. I haven't checked in in awhile. Christine, your post reminded me how special this place is. There are still some of us around who would like to continue to lift each other up with support.
It's been raining the past few days on this end of the circle, I know CA would love to have some of it. We really needed it, though, so it's been greatly appreciated. I finally turned on the heater last night for the first time this fall. Today is a great day to snuggle up with some hot chocolate in front of the campfire.
I had my annual mammogram and my first time bone density scan today. I'm not too concerned about either right now. There haven't been any changes in my "good" breast, so not too stressful for once.
I'm working hard memorizing my lines and practicing for the play coming up in a few weeks. It's really coming along nicely. The cast is a riot and I'm having a blast. I think I have most of the lines down, yeah! Now just polishing.
For some of you new members, I'm glad to get to know you. Let's make this a hopping place again!
-
slonedeb .... congratulations on the falling marker numbers !!!!! my onc doesnt use the test to diagnose bc but he does take them to track an individual's trend .... falling is a great trend
-
Slone Deb,
I'm not sure what my markers have been doing. But falling is good! I do know that sometimes during trteatment the chemo can make them rise. so don't worry too much if they rasie a bit.
Gracie I'm sorry I ment to welcome you last night and darn chemo brain made me lose track of where I was. So here's a great big WELCOME!
-
Sheri what the play this time?
Karen, so glad you're still enjoying the goodies. Be careful traveling. I'm glad you weren't home during all this mess with the fires!
Brenda, take care I remember how the ashes feel like snow one year when I was a kid clear down in Chula Vista from a fire in Jamul.
Stay safe and it'll clear soon. this has been a really bad year for the fires there.
My folks live just west of Spring Valley & NE of where So Cal Lisa lives. I've been on the phone with them everyday.
Ok time for me to hit the sack I have to be at work early to check plates.
Hi Christine good to see you!
Where is everyone else?
Night all!
-
Hi CY, good to see you, too. The play is Uh,Oh, Here Comes Christmas by Robert Fulgham, the one who wrote All I ever knew I learned in Kindergarten. We did that one last year. I have a bigger part this time, so it's been more challenging, but I'm having so much fun.
Slonedeb, I'm glad your markers are lower, that's got to be good.
Gracie, Welcome.
Have a great day!
-
Hello circle sisters...I am back. I think I am back for good. I missed my home here.
I had to pop in at work and post something for all of you quickly...my daughter is a Walmart manager in Florida and is doing a special fundraising today in our honor at her store. All the proceeds will go to breastcancer.org. I will post pictures of the event throughout the day (I will just keep editing this post).
DD with an employee in a pink hat
One of her employees who wore a pink shirt to work
All the employees ready to hit the floor running to raise money for bc...
-
Popping back in to say hello to all here...new and old. The seasons are winding down, lawn work is done for the year and hibernation time is upon us (well...some of us LOL...I don't like the cold...so I hibernate...read, crochet, watch movies and wait till spring). I am glad that it will give me more time to be here again.
The afghan project is still plodding along. I have two to be mailed that will be going out soon.
ChristineK...wondered where you disappeared too!
Sheri...you will be wonderful in your play! I wish we could be there to cheer you on and bring you flowers at the end.
Tracey...I've missed ya! Has work slowed down a bit yet for you.
A great big warm welcome to all the new girls...I will read back and catch up when I'm not at work. Don't want to end up on the streetcorner with a tin cup after getting fired LOL.
Love and hugs all around
Vickie

heehee...DD just called...she has made everyone in the store wear pink. She has a whole group of guys making pink ribbons to sell...she's pretty good when it comes to gently forcing people to do what she wants LOL. She said that she has men that swore they would never ever wear pink in pink tshirts, hats etc. She is going to send more pictures and give us the total amount they raise when its all done.
Madison...love you too giggle sister. Gonna miss ya next week...hope the blackberry works.
