biopsy complication?

Two days ago I had a stereotactic biopsy for micorcalcifiacations. As I sit waiting for results, I noticed that my nipple is not "responding" shall we say, to cold etc. ( I do have sensitivity/feeling.) I can still feel some swelling and tenderness internally, but there are no outward signs of infection. I had several injections of lidocaine and the calcifications were located behind the nipple.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

    Waiting,

I had a stero biopsy for calcifications behind the nipple in 2005 and I don't remember having any problems you are concerned about. You should bring it up in your post-biopsy with your doctor.

It might be that the area is still not reacting because of the lidocaine that was injected.

I agree the area may not be responding due to the lidocaine or from the trauma of the biopsies. I had quite a bit of swelling after mine (but I had hemotomas). I wore a jogbra 24/7 for at least a week afterwards (except for showers) and used ice packs.

I think it would be reasonable to call your doc and ask to be sure.

I found out at my facility you don't get a post-biopsy appointment if your results are benign. Your doc may be different.

How long does it take for the bruising to clear up and the hematomas to dissolve after a stereotactic biopsy?  It has been over a week and I am experiencing some dull throbbing and a small rubber ball shaped swelling inside my breast.

Thanks...BTW, I have DCIS, Stage 0, diagnosed today.

I had my 2 stereos done in August - same breast 7 & 8 o'clock position.  It took about 2 months for the rubber ball shaped swelling in my breast to go away.  That was my hemotama.  I had some bruising and it took about 4 weeks to go away.  I was diagnosed with DCIS, Stage 0 - DCIS found in both.  I don't remember how long it took for me to regain feeling around my nipple again since i kept putting ice and stayed in a sports bra most of the time.
