if this is old news to some of you......

BUT...it's new news to me, and I am EXCITED!

If you are Her2/neu +++, you must Google "Neuvac".  It sounds SO VERY promising!!!

Edit:  it isn't Neuvac.....it's Neuvax....  :)  Sorry about that.

HI and thanks for sharing this!  I hadn't heard about it-- is this in place of Herceptin?  And better than Herceptin?

This is what I have found out.  They are just starting phase III.  From what I understand, it can be used with Hercepton, or without it.  With far less side effects.  I'm excited!  :)

The following was copied and pasted:

In the first of two portions of the meeting Dr. George Peoples summarized data from the Phase I/II clinical trials he conducted with NeuVax in over 200 breast cancer patients including the most up-to-date analysis and data. The points presented by Dr. Peoples included:

    An optimized dose of NeuVax
A demonstration of therapeutic activity through assessment of disease recurrence with a clear difference between the control group (not given NeuVax) and treatment groups
A greater than 4-fold reduction in disease recurrence in patients receiving the optimum dose of NeuVax
No recurrence to-date in patients receiving the optimum dose plus semi-annual boosters of NeuVax
NeuVax has no Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD) because it is highly specific and has only mild side-effects
100% of breast cancer patients in Dr. Peoples' studies responded to NeuVax regardless of level of HER2-expression

I WANT to be in the phase III trial, but you have to have been node positive.  Sounds like a great trial to get in for ladies that are node positive!

Yes, they are calling it a vaccine.  Although, it's purpose isn't to prevent her2 cancers....it's to treat.  Which seems odd to me.  I thought the word "vaccine" was used only to prevent.  I guess not.

Here's the link I tried to copy and paste from:
