BC movie on Lifetime tonight
I've read no reviews of this movie but saw it in the listings and have set my DVR to record it at 9pm EST. It's called 'Matters of Life and Dating' and is supposed to be a story about a woman's experiences with dating after a mastectomy. Hopefully, Lifetime will do as good a job with this storyline as they've done with similar shows dealing with BC.
I thought that some of you all would be interested in checking it out.

Thanks for the update. I always watch anything related to breast cancer but I missed this one. I'll be sure and tune in. Thanks, Christy.

So here's what I took from the film...just two little thoughts that echo my own, post-bc:
1. Fear is worth crap. It doesn't change anything and is a waste of time.
2. All of life's obstacles and challenges...as one of the characters ('Cancer Friend') says, 'It's all just traffic.' I loved that.
At first I found the film just a bit too light-hearted, a tone clearly inappropriate when dealing with cancer, but it grew on me. Many of the facts and details were right on target too, as were the feelings that the characters grappled with. If you have a chance to see it in re-run, I'd say check it out.

Thanks for the review Marin. I don't think I'd go out of the way to see it, but if it was on tv, I probably would. Is it based on a true story?

Ya know, I'm not sure, Amy. At the end, before the credits, there was a tribute, an 'In memory Of' someone, but I missed the very beginning and it might have been explained there.

I forgot to watch it. I'll have to check for the re-run.

based on a true story. In memory of one of the gals from her support group that died.
Once I got passed the first 30 minutes it grew on me.
I did get annoyed when the chic in the support group said I get dense dose chemo-- I know its no biggy-- but its dose dense... and I laughed a little.
It was pretty good-- nothing crazy emotional or tearjerking.

I just caught the movie on re-run and did like the message. Fear is not worth wasting precious moments of life. With that said, I am a survivor at age 38. While going through treatment, I had my marriage of 20 years fall apart and find myself single for the first time since I was 17 years old. Single with a bilateral mastectomy (going through reconstruction still). No big deal, but eventually I would like to date and do find myself very self conscious about my appearance. Fear is a wasted emotion, but an emotion that I find myself feeling none the less.
