reconstruction

Hello, I am new to this sight.  I had total mastectomy in May, not reconstruction.  Too overwhelming at the time.  I have just received my 6th chemo treatment and have 2 more rounds.  Nov. 12,  I will have my 8th and final treatment.  I want to wait a few months to start to feel like a human again but also wanted to ask about others experiences with the Diep flap Reconstruction.  I do not want to have implant as I am 58 yrs old and was told they only last 10 to 15 years.  I had a bad experience with plastic surgeon and want to find someone who will treat me as a human being and not "his" next project.  Any input will be appreciated.
