A peaceful idea

Well, sometimes, some posters attack with innuendo or calling another's opinion "uninformed and prejudice" (lv2cmp, that's a quote and incorrect usage but it's a quote, sorry, don't correct me
) ... And saying that "some people" around here are like the people in the Emperor with no clothes ... those are attacks, too, just not as vicious but still enough to want to ignore the person from that time on! So, did I worry when I saw the latest "attacks" ... nope, I figured this poster was thick skinned and if she can dish it out, she can take it. I guess next time, I'll just notify a mod, too.

I've been slapped down by one of the moderators, although I doubt that she would have phrased it just that way. So I just avoid some people. It doesn't inconveniece me and I'm sure it doesn't bother them - what's the problem? Some people here don't like my ideas, I can live with that. It's a wide wide world we are all still living in.

I agree mke-- there are some posters who's posts I just skip over because we've never agreed on anything.
I don't think that we all have to get along, in fact, I think it's probably unrealistic, but we can surely all be civil.

I had a little more surgery so really missed what this is all about. However, it has happened in the past and will probably happen in the future. I am sure I have said things that are not popular but would never never attack someone on a personal level and just "move on" if I do not agree. Gosh part of the name of this thread is "moving" Some feelings/opinions need to be kept to one's self. Keeping those opinions in my mind means your all grown up!

I think the point we're trying to make is that it is OK to disagree, in fact, that's the whole point of a forum, to bring things up and discuss them, share knowledge.
What isn't nice is when disagreements are misread or turn into personal attacks. Every person's experience is valid, people have commonalities and differences in experiences and we can't share them if they turn into heated arguments.
It's really quite easy to be polite and still express a difference of opinion.
Vive la difference!!!

It is truly a shame that there has to be vicious personal attacks directed at anyone on the boards but, that said, it has happened since I joined back in 04 and will continue no doubt. I have noticed over the years that there is lots of passive aggression going on, finger pointing etc. There are cliques here even if people don't want to see it, they certainly exist. People are going to be offended all the time, something that offends me might not necessarily offend someone else, but I draw the line at personal attacks. Debate the content of the post do not slam the poster.
There is only person here that I have ever clashed with and it turns out she had multiple log-in names and was a real s--- disturber. Unfortunately she is still here and seems to still be stirring it.
Breast cancer is an awful ordeal to have gone through and that alone is the one tie that binds us. Maybe we would not like each other in real life should we meet. Not everyone gets along but lets try to keep it civil.
I hope everyone has a good day,
Tina
