Texas Meets Japan!
For the past couple of months, so many bad news has been piling up here and we all have been devastated beyond words. So I thought I would share some exciting news for a change.
My dearest friend Donna aka djd is coming over here for holidays and we will finally be meeting in person!
Obviously I have never met anyone from these boards so I am very very excited.
She will arrive on Friday the 19th and I can barely wait. We have been talking about this for over two months now but we have never been good at being patient.
We have so many things planned so will be busy until the day she leaves for home. We will even be doing a Geisha makeover. Be prepared, we may post the weirdest Geisha picture in the near future.
Please everyone, wish Donna a safe trip. We will sure have a blast!
Hugs,

Oh Fumi, what wonderful news! How I would love to be there too.
Take TONS of pix and post them, our computer genius, we can see everything you do.
Love you, honey, Shirlann
-
Rose - I bought a few "2 GB" memory cards just for this trip, so I should be able to take almost 1,000 pics without stopping to upload
. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about Japan and the Japanse culture and Fumi and I have a "project plan" mapping out the activities for the 10 days. She has taken great care to make sure I have some boring food to eat, since I'm pretty non-adventurous when it comes to eating!
This is not business, strictly for pleasure and I can't wait to share the fun stories and pictures with you all! It's truly a once in a lifetime trip and if it weren't for Fumi being there, I'd never have the guts to go alone.
Hopefully Fumi will come here some day and we can have a stateside meet and greet.
-
Oh, I am so jealous, to get to go to that wonderful country AND see our Fumi, I am GREEN with jealousy, but I guess I will survive.
We expect a really, really long and detailed post when you get back!
What a wonderful trip.
Keep us all posted.
Hugs, Shirlann

How perfectly wonderful! Yes, lots of sad/bad here lately, but this brings a smile. Be sure to have a lot of throat lozenges on hand--you two will jabber non-stop the whole time! Have a GREAT time--and, send us lots of pics.........huggggssssssss, junie

Whoa!!! Get ready, you TWO
What a time you will enjoy!
A time to never be forgotten
for both of you..
Hugs,)
Have a safe trip, Donna -
The same time next week, we will be together and probably drunk!
As for my visit to the States, actually I gave it a serious thought this past May when I got 10 days holidays. But I gave it up because I thought that 10 days wouldn't be enough. Your country is just too huge to look around. If you ladies all could gather in one state, it would be much easier for me to make that happen.
Hugs,
Fumi

Fumi, if you make it to ANYWHERE in the US, I will meet you there! (And I hate flying!)

Well, it's almost time! I'll be on a plane in 12 hours, headed for Japan.
A funny story - in a casual conversation with a co-worker yesterday, I realized that it didn't make sense that I could leave California and arrive in Japan on the same day. I went back and checked my itinerary and doh! I am arriving on Saturday, not Friday.
So, I frantically emailed Fumi to advise her of my stupid mistake and called the hotel to change my check-in date. Fumi was able to change her plans and will be meeting me at the airport on Saturday. Phew! If I had gotten on the plan without realizing my error, the trip would have been miserable, as I surely would have figured it out en route, after it was too late to tell anyone.
Only two tasks left - show up at the airport and exchange my currency for yen.
Bon Voyage!
-
Yeah I agree. That is one of the silliest mistakes you could ever make.
And I too am glad you figured that out before I leave. I would have been one miserable woman waiting for you like an idiot in front of the hotel.
Have a safe trip D, see you tomorrow!!!
Hugs,
Fumi

At the same time tomorrow, we will be together! Can you believe it???
I am heading up to Tokyo which is an hour flight away from here tomorrow afternoon. Then will pick Donna up at the airport and take her to the hotel. That way she won't have to get lost without being able to speak our language. Next weekend, she is flying down to here and we will do some sightseeing in Kyoto which is one of the most popular tourist places in Japan. The Geisha makeover is there so you will have to wait for a week before you see us being weird Geisha's.
I am excited beyond words! Only 16 hours till we meet!
Oh by the way, welcome back Pup! You were missed.
Hugs,
Fumi

Donna: Have a wonderful, safe trip
Fumi: Don't get too excited now

I think it is just wonderful

other
Where there is a will, there is a way
Best to both of you
Be safe, eat lots of sushi
and have some Sake for me
I love it..

Hello all,
got in to Tokyo exactly on time and met Fumi. We took a bus from the airport to the hotel and then went to dinner last night at an Italian restaurant where they do magic tricks tableside. The food was just so-so, but the magic tricks were amazing! We came back to the hotel at around 11 and went to the bar for a "nightcap" (or 3)and talked and laughed for a few hours before I was ready to pass out from jet lag. This morning we got up around 8:30 am and are headed out to Starbucks for coffee and breakfast and then to the Imperial Palace and then to Odaiba (sp?) that is supposed to be a fantastic shopping and entertainment district.
I will post pictures later - as soon as Fumi teaches me how on the new boards!
