I'm looking for suggestions for any good books or other resources for helping your children understand your dx, treatments, etc.

    What ages are your children?

Grayson - how old are your kids?

My young daughters like "Mom and the Polka Dot Boo-Boo" I personally think it's a bit goofy - but they really like it.

the first time i was diagnosed they were preschoolers -  i'm helping on a committee that's trying to put together some resources for moms and where better to get the best ideas than here.

I don't have any resources. But I will say, in my experience, it was best to be honest, but not too honest. I refused to lie to them. But I didn't want to scare them either.

Today, one year post-treatment, they don't give my previous illness a second thought. Their only concern now is my hair isn't very long. :lol

I am not going to tell my kids until we know more but I am really nervous about telling my daughter. My mom had BC and I know my daughter is going to freak because of seeing my mom so sick.

My son is usually pretty calm and matter of fact about things. He is 9yrs old.

I'm 42 and have a 2 year old and I am going to have a mastectomy soon.  Anyone have experience explaining the sudden absence of a breast to that age?  I'm full-figured so it will be quite noticeable even if I don't show her the drains and all that.
