O/T - Furbaby GONE!!

She is soooo beautiful. I love the spark in her eyes. I'm not sure where you live or what kind of a neighborhood, but do you have a garage you can keep open with some of her food and litter in case she finds her way home but can't get back in? I keep checking your thread, hoping for good news.
-
Naked Guy (the neighbor across the street; we call him that because he always does his afternoon walks in warm weather without a shirt) likes to leave his garage door open during the day, so I'm hoping she's holed up there or nearby. Trouble is the house next door to him has a very young but big Rottweiler that is quite wild (and has gotten loose a few times). His bark alone would be jus the thing to get her running into the woods, I'm afraid.
Flyers are up and the shelters have been called. Vestly seems to have just vanished! I can't stop thinking about her - and everytime I do, I cry like a baby. This is absolutely the worst feeling... -

I'm sorry.
-
Oh Felicia....I am soo sorry. I also keep checking to see if she has come back. My thoughts are with you.

I too keep checking to see if Vestly has come back. He will. I just KNOW he will. Do keep calling him.
Talking about feral cats...We adopted one. She wouldn't let us near her for some time. She was with two other friendly cats. Finally, she'd turn around (and still does) and let me pet her "backside." I suppose she didn't want to see the hand coming at her.

{{{Felicia}}}.I'm SOO sorry, my sister.I can imagine how you feel.I hope she comes back really soon.I keep checking the thread for "Update!" or "She's BACK!!"
It has GOT to happen.
And your poor son must be very sad too.
Sorry.
Waiting with you.

We're all waiting with you, Felicia. Hang in there, girl.

Well, I did see her last night - I think. I spent a part of the afternoon beating the bushes (with a box of dry cat food) looking for her. Of course, every brown shadow or rock looked like my baby, but it wasn't. Ironically, the cat across the street followed me all the way. When she first ran up to me, I thought it was Vestly because they kind of look alike...
Anyway, as I'd been doing for the last couple of nights before bed, I peeked outside on the front porch before I turned out the light. And there she was! Sitting there like it was something she's always done. But by the time I unlocked everything, a very loud car zoomed down my very quiet street and freaked her out. She was gone just that quick. I put her food and water dishes out (filled, of course) and this morning, every crumb was gone, but she was no where to be found.
I'm thinking of finding out how to get a "Hav-a-Hart" trap from the local feral cat place, but my day has been too busy to do it yet. Any other suggestions? This is sooo freaky... -
Well, at least you know she is okay!
-
Glad to hear you have had fur-baby sighting! have you left food out? she has to be hungry!

Felicia, bring wet food (or tuna) with you too, because she'll be able to smell that better. If you see her, don't chase after her but sit down quietly and make soft noises like clicking your tongue, or even blowing air through your teeth. Cats have keen senses of hearing. Loud calling might scare her and chasing her will make her think you're playing. She's more likely to come to you when quiet. I've coaxed 2 cats this way-- one got outside and another got into a friend's crawl space inbetween her wall when we had to evacuate because of a flood warning and was so freaked out he wouldn't come out.

Wow - a neighbor called while I was in class this morning; said she'd seen the flyers and thinks she may have seen Vestley hanging out on her porch - two houses down! She said she would be happy to put Vestley (or a cat that looks like her) in the car and drive her over (she doesn't know we live so close, I guess) but had to leave for work shortly after she called and was going to let the cat back out in front of her house. I went by when I got the message, but no sign of her.
I'm heading over in a bit with a can of tuna, Amy. Thanks for the tip!
I'm thinking the cat is enjoying this too much and may not WANT to come home(. My little guy is really upset about it, thinking it is his fault she got out. He perked up a bit last night when I told him about seeing her on the porch, though...
-
Maybe Vestley has found herself a little Tomcat and is just having a little fling.
-
This all sounds really hopeful!!! I wish for a safe return. Thanks for keeping us updated.
-
Felicia, Vestley's acting like such a kid. He's trying to aggravate the heck out of you. I'm so glad you saw him. Now to catch the bugger!
Shirley

YAY Felicia!! Vestely is well and very close by!!
I thought something had fascinated her!
Now she is acting like a "teenager in love".
"MOM says I'm too young to be out.But I'm having a WONDERFUL time! And now Mom is even bringing delicious food for us!"
LOL!Vestley was always a wild girl-jumping into your car years ago.She has, I think, gypsy feet.(I know the feeling well!)
I'm pretty sure she will end this adventure when the weather gets too cold. But I do not blame you for bringing her home sooner. And your sentiments about her WANTING to be free are true, but you can't actually have a cat who lives on a porch 2 doors down!!
Hugs. I'm happy your kitty is well and nearby!
-
Felicia, I Pray Your Precious Furbaby comes home tonight.

What a silly cat worrying you..but at least she lets you "see" her..I can't wait until she comes home

-
Dear Felicia,
She's beautiful. I do hope she makes her way home very soon.
My kitty is missing, too and we feel horrible. We moved into s new house that is quite close to our old one. I have checked the spca and pound. We are still hopeful that she will be home soon.
Hugs and Prayers,
Lexi

Both my cats did a runner for a few days. I was heartbroken in each case and the little beggars sauntered home looking a little worse for wear. My black cat was also blind and of course you can imagine how worried I was for him, but my son found him on the nearby field. DS recognised him from a distance from the kink in his tail and when my son approached him the little beggar ran off!
Hope Vestley realises she has a comfy chair and a fireside to come home to very soon.
Big hugs

If you haven't found her yet, also make sure you bring your carrier when you're out looking for her in case she won't let you carry her home.
-
Thank goodness...at least you know she is okay. When she gets in the house, she will need a "good talking too"...hug her first, then let her have it!!!
-
I talked to my neighbor yesterday and I think she saw Sassy, the OTHER neighbor's cat. Sassy is small like Vestley, but has many more stipes that are darker. When I went out looking again this morning - tuna in hand - Sassy came running out and I realized how much they do look alike...
But, I'm holding onto the hope that it was Vestley on our porch the other night. It's getting warmer here, not colder (what's up with THAT?!?), but it is supposed to rain later. She hates the vacuum and thunder so anything like that could put baby girl over the edge, I'm afraid...
Please keep praying for her - and Lexi's kitty, too! -
Hoping for good news for your cat too Lexi-- now I have 2 to worry about...
. Keep us posted Lexi.
-
All fingers & toes crossed for happy homecomings for both Vestley and Lexi's furbaby.
-
Oh what a pretty furbaby. Sending you good vibes for you to find her soon or for her to make her way home. I know how distraught you must be.
-
Lexi, Hope your furbaby comes home soon. Check around your old neighbourhood - cats are very territorial and she may want her old territory back, especially if it is not so far and she can catch a whiff of it in the air.
Hope you find her soon. Such naughty babes to worry us so.
Big hugs

Well, that wonderful picture made me cry. I cannot imagine what you are going through. All of us will send prayers and good hopes, and just maybe she will turn up. Put food all around the yard, really good stuff, like canned tuna or chicken. Aw darn it! You didn't need this!
Hugs, Shirlann -
Praying for the little cutie!!!
Felicia, keep the Faith!!

Thank you sweet sisters for your good thoughts and prayers. We have had Reba for 14 years and I feel sick about her missing. I am still hopeful that she will be home again soon.
Felicia,
I hope that Vestley will be home very soon. I think it is a very good sign that she was on the porch the other night. I am sure she is close by.
Hugs,
Lexi
