Funky Winkerbean - Lisa's BC

Lisa mentioned before she died that she wanted her ashes spread in Central Park. It was right after she said she wanted to make it long enough to see the leaves change.
I can't imagine going alone to spread someone's ashes, wouldn't the daughter want to go along to see Mommy fly??
-
When the people in my family and extended family have died, the immediate family usually goes to spread the ashes, except for one cousin who wanted half her ashes spread in Pisa, so (unfortunately
) no one but her husband went. Her adult kids were invited, but chose not to go since they already spread the other half of her ashes nearby. I just assumed it was a family thing.

I just thought it was sooooo sad. Seeing him kneeling there in the rain alone and sobbing. Horrible. I thought someone should have been there too. If not the little girl then maybe funky or someone close.

To me, I would want to do it alone. I would be able to let it all out, that was their special place. No one else's. It was his time to grieve without having to take care of others.

I believe he may have been pickpocketed today.

Interesting Dotti-- I never thought about doing it alone before this. My family is pretty good about taking care of themselves--so I'm not sure. Maybe I'd do it with them and save a bit to do myself....

Now Les is getting on my nerves. He left Summer alone after her mother died to take care of her remains? Yikes.
-
I think of all the comic strips shown so far the one today really hit me. Going to his room and seeing that empty bed broke my heart.
Amy,
They seemed to have kepted Summer out of this alot. Personally I was upset when she went to congress to lobby. Not that she didn't have a good cause--but to me I would spend every minute I could with that little girl. Some may say that is exactly why she went for that little girl. And I understand. Still, I would want to be with her and DH more than anything.

BC is sad. And many husbands are facing this. And our children face this, too.
I still cry when I think how out of control this disease can get.
-
Of the 3 husbands I know who lost their wives, two had grown children and one didn't have any kids. I can't picture the two older men leaving their kids the way Les left Summer, but I can picture the younger one who was so wrapped up in his own grief, to be like Les.
-
I was in an August Chemo thread in 2004. There were two Moms that left young children. It broke my heart...for them....for their children...and for their husbands.
One of them was from Australia and had three school age children. A few months ago her DH emailed a photo of the family and how they are getting on.
The other I haven't heard from her family and she had a preschool and a kindergartner.
It just must be so difficult especially in those early years to lose your dear Mom.
I do think Dad's today are more aware of their children's feelings than perhaps years ago.
I think each person handles their grief in their own unique way.
