what are you eating during chemo
Hey everyone, I am going to post this on several different threads so I can get a variety of answers. I finished my chemo on 2/19/07 and I was recently asked a question and I can't remember. A young girl my sons work with is doing a project for a class at school. They are designing a cancer center that is going to be built. They have to plan everything~including the menu for the cafe. They are supposed to ask cancer patients what they ate during chemo and what totally turned their stomachs. There is a chance, they will actually use the menu she comes up with up. The only things I can remember that I really wanted were jelly beans and hamburgers when I was taking Taxotere. I can't remember anything I wanted on while on A/C. Can you all help me out? I thought if she had input from some of the most wonderful people ever, if I might be more helpful than just jelly beans and hamburgers. Thanks everyone. I will let you know how she does. The project is not due until Thanksgiving but I would like to give it to her as soon as possible. Thanks again. , Bonny

Hi, I have be on chemo since early June, and can't say that I have been craving anything special. I do however know that I use to drink soda every once in a while, depending on what I was eating at the time. like pizza, pasta, burgers. well, since the chemo I really HATE the taste of coca-cola, and that was my favorite. I have found out that lately I like tuna fish, which I really didn't care for before. Don't know if you can use that information or not... But though I might mention it.

I had answered another post of yours, but forgot to mention this:
Gingerale (with real ginger in it, not artificial flavors) warmed. Don't know why I liked it heated, it seemed to soothe and calm my stomach.
Also, ginger tea. Again, real ginger in it.

I got the munchies when I was actually having chemo. I crave crackers and chips etc. The day I have chemo is the only day I really have an appetite. I guess it is from all of the good anti-nauseau drugs I get in my IV.

I lived on Kraft Macaroni N Cheese during chemo.

my Mom has been on chemo for the past 4 months, she went through 4 cycles of AC and is going through T right now with one more to go.
She said that drinking water felt like drinking something metalic, she has gone through drifferent types of drinks like gatoraid, sprite, iced tea and mango juice. My Mom is diabetic so she has to watch her sugar levels as well. That would be something to consider when putting together a menu for patients.
hope this helps - Patricia

I needed to have something that was very ice cold such as a frozen non caffine drink.
