I was diagnosed 2 weeks before my 38th bday.  I had a mammogram at 35 for baseline and it was clear.  My tumor was 3 cm.  I'm one month out of treatments and doing great so for.  Still have SE's but they are getting better.

i was diagnosed at 49 1/2.  Doctor said it was a miracle that my radiologist caught it (because it was soooo small).  Have had a mascetomy and am recovering fine at week 8.

Found the lump 3 months before seeing doctor....I thought I would wait and see if it went down...but still made my doctor appointment after waiting the first month.....I was 48 years old and would be diagnosed in April 2006. Turned 49 years old on the day of my lumpectomy....HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I had my baseline at 40 years old and then at 44 years old. I changed jobs and doctors left my medical group....so I had been busy delaying getting a new doctor.....but I always did monthly breast exams....and that is what found the lump. My radiologist said that my breasts were so dense that they probably would not have even seen the cancer on a mamogram a few years earlier should I have had one done then. I saw my digital mamograms and boy were my breasts WHITE! So I literally had to wait for the lump to be felt. There is no good lump, bump, or cyst.........get them all out!

    Love,

    Terry

    Hi.

I was dx'd in March 2007, at age 43, and my birthday was April 21... I turned 44.  I had my bi-lateral mast. on May 2nd.  I remember being happy that I would still have my breasts, and not be in pain on my birthday.

I am about to have my LAST chemo tx! on Oct. 9th, and reconstruction on Nov. 7th...  YIPPEE!!

    HARLEY

P.S.  oh, then it's on to hormone treatment, probably Tamoxifen first, then maybe switching to an AI after a couple of years...

I was 71 and now 72.  Mom died from breast cancer at 46.  Boy I thought I'd dodged the bullet but cancer can hit us at any age.

My husband and I were celebrating my 48th birthday (July 6th)  by having a nice dinner out.  On our way home I had an itch under my left armpit and as I scratched it my baby finger rested on a lump on my breast.  Things moved very quickly.  My husband is an ultrasound tech. at our hospital.  I was diagnosed with Stage II  B.C July 10th and had a full mastectomy July 12th - just six days after finding the lump.   Many have said "What a birthday present"!  My belief is that it truly was.  What if I had not found it that day?

I was 35. I had an extremely special birthday (the birth of my 2nd child). I went to the 6 week checkup after having her and the doc found the lump. Less than a month later, had a mastecomy. It was stage 2B. She is now 18 months. Still undergoing chemo.

I was (am) 52.  Found it in July this year while we were sailing round Britain.  I was tying my hair up, noticed a puckering on the underside of one breast, felt a lump there.  Grade 3 stage 2.

I had atypical hyperplasia at age 43 and now at age 49, breast cancer. I was told back at age 43 that my chances were better with tamoxifen but I opted not to take it. I still am at peace with that decision. But now, I am looking at a mastectomy in a month or so, and that is REALLY freaking me out!!!!

I was diagnosed the day after my 28th birthday, last month.  I had found a lump one day while I was showering.  I just started chemo last week.

Daddy's lung cancer swept him away on May 30/07.  Said a very tearful goodbye to him on Jun 02/07. Mamo on Jun 07/07 - suspicious findings therefore, ultra sound guided core biopsy on Jul 19/07. Given the news of the diagnosis on the morning of my 1st scheduled day of back to work from a long holiday - I never made it to the office - turned the day into sick leave and am still on it.  Results of DX on Aug 07/07 with lumpectomy on Aug 23/07. Have had the 1st of 6 FEC-T chemo treatments then RADS and tamoxifen. All this at the ripe ole age of 46.

I was 34 and pregnant with my third child (a girl, finally!). Had both DCIS and Invasive Ductal. Small, though - just Stage I, thankfully. Had a modfied radical mast. on my left at 6 months pregnant. Chemo 4 months after giving birth. Now, just over 1 year out, I'm setting up my reconstruction, but finding yucky things in my right...it's coming off, anyway, but will it be soon enough?!?! Reconstruction's not scheduled until next April!

I was and still am 53, first in my family history, felt the 4 x 3 mm lump myself, two nodes affected, last mamogram was at about 49 so I don't know how fast it grew or how long I had it !  Never had any pain but just before feeling the lump I started to feel pain!  Only thing I can think since I don't smoke, or have a history is that I took birth control pills for a number of years !
