    Hi everyone,

Here are some pics from our Run for the Cure day. We enjoyed a wonderful day - 12,000 people (and maybe half as many dogs!) raising $1.5 million in Calgary! I heard that the whole of Canada had 170,000 people and $26 million. Pretty great! I smiled the whole time - especially when we passed under all those bras. People had decorated their trees and houses with pink ribbons and lots of runners/walkers were dressed in pink wigs, boas, and tiaras. Our team had striking pink scarves, which also kept us toasty and warm.

Anyway, it was a really empowering experience. I smiled all morning long just looking at all the fantastic people who care about girls like us.

    Okay,

This format is NOT Mac friendly, so I'm thinking none of my pictures are up. I'll try from my school's PC tomorrow.

keenie, you may try, if you don't mind a small image, just copying the thumbnail on photobucket, and pasting it directing into your message. i have a PC, and had the hardest time trying to get an image on here the other day. it worked one time, but then i couldn't get it to work again, so i just copied and pasted.

    Hi Cruisers,

Well, I got another reprieve from chemo.  Seems I'm still accumulating too much fluid since surgery.  I was aspirated today - 210ccs.  My surgeon says if it doesn't slow down, he'll put in another drain.  I see him again on Friday to get a verdict.  So now I'm scheduled for chemo on the 17th as long as this fluid/drain thing  gets rectified.

Miss S! Thank you!! I can't seem to get anywhere with my Mac.

I had my last chemo on May 2, so yesterday was my 5 month anniversary. I can't believe it, really. I'm fighting a big cough and cold at the moment - first one of those in almost a year too!

My hair is really curly. Really! It's kind of a lot of fun cos it's so quick to do.

Thank you again for helping me with my pictures.

I love the hair keenie!!  Mine is coming back straight but hey, that could change.  The Onc called and I had to go in to take a blood test to check to see if I'm in the menopause faze yet.  I'm off of Tamox now and will have to wait and see what the Onc suggest at the end of the month.  This is such a pain in the rear but I'll just wait and see what new torture he has planed for me..lol  Hugs and take care all...rosebud

Hello Sabe Sisters....saw the rad onc today for a routine follow-up that turned out NOT to be so routine.  The incredible tenderness (read PAIN...I am a minimizer!!) around my incision site was 'suspicious' in her words.  She did an utz right then and there and told me that it looks 'not good'.  She told me not to worry too much, that she would follow-up with my surgeon and get back to me next week some time.  By the time I had gotten home from work the rad onc had called my house 2 times.  She said I need to see the surgeon immediately and I should wait at home tomorrow for a call.

I HAVE to go to work tomorrow...so many things pending.  I have patients to see and tons of stuff to get done before the weekend....I had planned to take off on Monday to spend the day with my daughter who is here from NYC for a quick visit and meeting her girlfriend for the first time!

    Help...I am in panic mode...

Thank you for  the prayers, good words and support.  Yesterday I saw the surgeon and she did another utz.  Discovered the 'mass' was a huge seroma and drained it.   A whole syringe full of yucky pus came out.  Very unusual to have this develop a full 10 months after surgery.  It was totally gross but I am very relieved. I will be seen now every 12 weeks for 2 years for f/u.

Breathing a huge sigh of relief...and taking vicodeine for the pain....

Hi everyone - it is good to hear how all of you are doing!

Holly - I am so happy that your problem was an 'easy' fix.  Whew!

Teri - I KNOW you are happy the rads are coming to a close.  Just not having to get up and go everyday is such a blessing.

I am still not feeling the best, but I do feel better than I did last week.  My liver mets are really playing with me - nasty little buggers.  I have my second round of my new tx today (had the first last week) and then get a week off.  Hopefully the SEs won't be as debilitating as the last ones.  Not sure which it was, SEs or liver or both, but ended up in the hospital for a few days.

I will still probably be scarce around here for awhile - just too tired - but know that I am thinking of you all and sending lots of hugs your way.

hi guys, just checking in. 2 more rads to go! woohoo!

i was so proud of myself today at supper (we ate at Luby's as it was Kids Eat Free night), and i had vegetables and water. no sugar or saturated fat! of course, at lunch i had pecan crusted sea bass with some kind of creamy sauce, but we're looking for progress, not perfection, yes?

    Hi Melissa,

I was just thinking about you this weekend and wondering how you were! And here you are, checking in! Must have been the Canadian turkey . . . ;-)

Terri, I also had some vegetables and water at dinner - with some nice barbecued chicken and a couple of fries. Yes, it's all about progress. Now, I'm thinking about getting up at 6:15 a.m. to do my workout. Hey, thinking IS progress. . .

I went to the cardiologist today. My ejection fraction is still at 33%, but he changed my meds and plans to keep changing them until he can get my heart improved. He said it might take up to a year to see any improvement.

My bad cholesteral, which was terrible last month, is now wonderful. He was very impressed at the speedy correction in that number.

However, I am protein deficient. Oops. I guess I need to make sure to eat protein! He fussed at me, saying I need protein for my heart to heal. I was just trying to avoid cholesteral!

I guess I'll figure it all out eventually. My cardiac MR for tomorrow got switched to next week. I do see my rad onc tomorrow, though.

The bad thing is I am making up all these lost doctor hours at work and I am soooooooo tired.

I'm very glad my LVEF had not dropped even further. At least I am holding steady.

    Love you all,

    Miss S

    Hi Melissa,

My Thanksgiving was great! The weather was lovely and we had a nice family dinner at my niece's condo in Calgary. I'm heading to Seattle in two weeks for some school-based professional development (and shopping!), so this will be a real test of my mettle. I go to bed around 9:30 and get up at 7:00 - oh, unless I'm thinking about working out - I'm being very careful and taking my vitamins. I'll get a flu shot next week too and since I'm "immune compromised", my DH and DD can get their shots for free. Lucky us!!

Miss S, you need to take care too. My heart seems fine after all the AC, but my thyroid is a bit inflamed, so my doc is keeping an eye on it. It seems like the tx we have all had have some consequences. Hope everyone is feeling well and blessed. Especially Jacque!

    Christine
