Please visit Pinkgle, the pink search engine. The Google part of the search returns regular Google results, but the Pinkgle part returns breast cancer related results. Visitors can suggest recommended sites, which will then show up higher, or become an editor, with more control. Pinkgle supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I hope this is not in violation of the TOS - I would just like to get the word out and make this search engine a valuable resource. Best wishes!

    Hi dazzled!

I run a search engine that helps fund mammograms for women who otherwise could not afford them. It is called Pink Ribbon Search. Many people try to help causes with technology like you have done. I think it is wonderful but you should be aware that Google is notorious for suspending AdSense accounts when they think that the ad clicks are being incentivised. At our website we find our own advertisers who are comfortable with working with us and understand what they are getting when they advertise with us. Using this approach allows us to raise money for mammograms without using Google's AdSense program which can be risky business if they think you are violating the terms of service (TOS). I think you will find that you can raise more funds faster for the charity if you seek out site sponsors. Then you just need to get people to use the site to make sponsorship a rewarding experience. I have seen several other sites use AdSense for their funding source. Most of them were shutdown before they made $20. It seems unfair to me since they let other sites like goodsearch.com get away with it, but I think the sites that get away with it have contacted Google and obtained permission in advance. I am not really sure how they did it, but don't be left out in the cold if Google gives you trouble... There is more than one way to raise funds for a good cause!

    Sincerely,

    Ted

Thanks, Ted, I just now saw your comment. It looks like you're way ahead of me.

I have quit advertising that Pinkgle supports the Foundation; now I just donate from my private funds. Sponsorship is a great idea and I'll check into that.  ~ Kay
