I just got my second fill with my tissue expanders and they finally feel secure. My bilateral mast. was 5/15/07. I am wondering when any of you with tissue expanders first started running/jogging again. I feel like I could do it now but would hate to cause the expanders to move. I've been walking about three miles every day, but would love to start running again!

    My expander wasn't going anywhere!

I'd go easy on push-ups, but for the most part running/jogging isn't a real pectoral intensive activity.

I agree with check with your PS and your PT.

I did plenty of pushups (with their blessing) with my expanders....

Hi Kath, Ask your PS about this. My bilat was also this past May.  I did 4 injection/expansions and got gel implants 1 1/2 weeks ago. Each expansion was very painful for me so I kept that area of my body somewhat immobilized for 3 days or so after each one until pain went away.  During expander period my PS OK'd me to do light upper body exercise if there was NO pain, and gave me stretching exercises to do. Upper body exercise for me was gardening - weeding, watering, digging with a spade - (but NO lifting of rocks for the stone walls I build.)  I had trouble wearing a bra because bras sat directly on top of the expander ports and hurt, so I did not run or jog without a bra.  Now healing from the recent implant insertions I do not do any upper body weight exercises, just the stretching ones.  I am finding that healing from implants is not as painful as the bilat but just as delicate a process.

Be sure to get a good running bra with good wide shoulder straps.  The Title Nine catalog has lots to choose from.
