Deep Breath..Pink ribbon hell month is starting

I went grocery shopping today.

Pink ribbon chips -- seems like a contradiction in terms.

In the frozen section all the pink ribbon vegetables were in cheese or butter sauce. The healthy low-calorie ones weren't.

Do breast cancer gals have a thing about broccoli with cheese sauce? 

However, I'll admit that I did buy a knife at Target with a pink handle. It's a short chopping knife - $4.99. It's been in the dishwasher several times the handle hasn't warped or anything. Everthing I cook with goes into the dishwasher.  It caught my eye because it was pink, but I bought it because it was cheap!

Yep...I've been seeing pink everywhere too. Tomorrow the "statistic" commercials they love to run should be starting. If I can't tivo past the commercials, I will be sure to keep my finger on "mute" for the next 31 days!

Here comes the contrarian.  I will go out of my way to avoid buying pink.  Who needs a constant reminder?  If I want to contribute to bc research, I send a check.

I'd also like to add that one thing I do year around is to buy the breast cancer awareness U.S. postage stamps, so I'm not entirely a Scrooge. <g> 

I have a pink bc key chain.  I have a bc bracelet with a pink charm on it that my oldest daughter bought for me and her sisters.  They wore the bracelet in support of me when going through treatment.

 I have no idea if the money went toward anything to do with research, but it sure did bless my heart.

I was flipping through the channels EARLY this morning.  On QVC they had a pink ribbon hour.  Most of the people were giving a good portion of the proceeds to different "foundations."

One caller called in and was a 30 year survivor!  She was only 30 when dxd.  I had to smile.  Another lady called in and was a survivor, one sister was living with bc, and another one died.  So, yes, I believe every little penny that goes to research is wonderful.

FLIPPING PINK M&M'S!!!!!!!

throughout the breast cancer free months the same sized bag of regular m&m's is $3.49 (when not on sale) ........... during "breast cancer frenzy" the pink M&M'S magically appear at the "pink" price of $4.99........ with a whopping 50 whole cents going to BC ............ hmmmmm i did the math and it appears it costs an extra $1.50 per bag just to dye the little suckers pink and then donate 50 lousy cents!!!!!!!!!!!!!
