Laura, I will be thinking of you and your team tomorrow. I have also added your two friends to my prayers. I know what you mean, everytime we turn around there is someone else with cancer.  There seem's to be no escape. That is also in my prayers and has been for sometime that they find a cure.

    Graycie -

    Thanks...

    RoseMarie -

Don't forget I'm part of a very strong team in this summer's 60 mile walk...Hmmmmmmm...I think you should seriously consider it. It would be a great incentive to whip ourselves into even better shape. You'll be pretty fit being a part of the d-boat team. And brw...she contacted me and invited me to join you girls this spring, just to see how you all train, etc. So I may just be doing a road trip your way! :)

Good luck on the walk, Laura.

I hope that Janclare gets some answers to her gastro problems. That's great that she has joined the walk as well.

60 miles? YIKES that's a long walk! I think I could do a fourth of that maybe...

RoseMarie..when do you start doing dragonboat training?

And I agree..it seems that bc is everywhere. WHY IS THAT?

Hi sisters!  (okay how do I get rid of these weird things in between my paragraphs...bleep...bleep.LOL, too weird!)  I also tried to post a picture of today's run and it doesnt work....argh....

I haven’t been home most of the weekend, stayed at mom’s since yesterday afternoon due to the run today and having to get so early.

Today’s Run for the Cure was a beautiful nice sunny day.  My feet are sore but entirely worth it.  Our location raised $580,000 and that’s just one city in Canada!

I drew pink ribbons on my cheeks and on my friend Julie’s.  She mentioned to me that people were looking around at the women in pink tshirts and I said at least they can see for themselves just how many people are affected by this disease.

The weekend just flew by once again…its Monday already again tomorrow.

We are counting down to our move and our trip down south.  Will probably pack a few boxes tonight, progress is being made finally!

Maryanne – how did your run go?  Was the weather just as nice where you were?

Graycie – everyone keeps saying to me that I should be getting a little bit of an increase for taking over but they don’t see it that way.  We all work as a team and one member is missing we pick up the slack and spread it around.LOL.  We get paid for the days that we call off sick, in Ontario we have 10 emergency leave days which include sick time.  We also have a percentage of our salaried paid for 15 weeks for short term disability and potentially up to age 65 for long term disability.  We are lucky and cant complain about our benefit plans in Canada!

Thanks for the info on the hot tub not sure I am happy with not being able to go in it, that sucks….

I haven’t been home most of the weekend, stayed at mom’s since yesterday afternoon due to the run today and having to get so early.

Deb – I don’t know why those weird things show up in my paragraphs, it looks like I’m burping or cusing or I don’t know what, haa haaJ  We did have a fun weekend last weekend but dh is going to close up the trailer next weekend for the season….

Hey sister get that mamo done, its important!!

Kelly – I get three weeks paid vacation, this year get four as had a week left over from when I was off on sick leave.  I work Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm., no weekends.  Cute cartoon and so true, life is really different now but I cherish each day!

Laura – have you had a chance to come up for air yet?  Say hi to Shelby for me!  I hope Jan Claire is okay and gets an answer on her tummy issues.  How was the walk?

Jill – glad to hear that you are doing well.  Enjoy your trip!

    Cathy – your welcome!

Amy – hope you are okay and just busy with the puppy!  We miss you…..

Take care my sisters and have a wonderful Sunday evening.

Here is a picture from the run today with my radiation buddy Julie.

    Love You all

    Michele

Hi Girls! The WALK WAS AWESOME. TEAM: NO SURRENDER LIVES ON! It's truly an empowering experience. Our team was awesome...the weather was awesome...everything was awesome... It's an incredible feeling to know that so many people support our cause. Unfortunately, I was so busy coralling my team members, mingling, etc. that I didn't get a TEAM PHOTO! I am so sad!

    Here's some photos:

This is my friend Susan and her Mom. Her Mom is a 43 YEAR BC SURVIVOR!

Here's three of the girls from my Illinois Survivor Thread here at bc.org.

Hope you all had a nice weekend. Roy and I raced the Goat ALL DAY! It was lots of fun. We forgot our camera...I wanted to post a photo of me at the starting line! The new engine is really amazing! But it's so fast, that I need to really concentrate and really stay focused. At the starting light, there's 3 amber lights in a row and then the green. To achieve a perfect RT (response time) I have to floor it as soon as I see the third amber light. I did...according to my coach/dh...okay. But I need to try harder to reach a faster/better RT. I raced a 69' ChevelleSS, a Mustang Cobra and a Corvette Stingray! I beat 2 out of 3! It was sooooooooooooooo much fun! It's in my blood...I just love that dam* Goat! LOL

I'll write more tomorrow...I am really exhausted.

    Great pics, Laura.

    Gail..I'm around...if you write, I'll answer!

Michele..sounds like your walk was terrific. Wonder why your pic didn't come through, though... Something weird with your posts!

I finally made appts for my mammo and US. Oct 22nd. They will do both of them on the same day. That's unusual...they used to tell me I had to wait a week.

Back and legs (both) are in pain. Sciatica. It has been like this since I slept on a sofa bed at my parents'. Seems the right leg is getting worse and I'm having a hard time getting comfy at night. It's an ache, not a strong pain.

I'm off to walk it off at the beach. Gotta keep myself moving and maybe it will slowly disappear...

    Have a good day, everybody!

Jill - have fun on your trips!! Always good to hear from you!!

Laura - So glad the "boat lady" got back to you.  I haven't heard a thing about training.  I hope you do make the "road trip." That would be fun!  EEEK...60 miles?!!  I'm sure I'll be in much better shape than I'm in right now this summer...60 miles though??? Is that done all in one day??? Keep me up on the details - I'll certainly consider it.

Michele - ((hugs)) packing up to move is so much work BUT the end result is a lot of fun!!

    Ok, gotta run!!

    Love you all lots...

    Michele -

Did you click on the little icon with the tree in the message box? When you key in your post, there's a bar across the top that shows it. This is hard to describe...let me know if you don't understand what I'm trying to describe! LOL

    RoseMarie -

60 miles...no problem! LOL You start walking on a Friday morning at 7:00 am. You walk 30 miles that day. You can walk slow or fast. You have about 10-12 hours to do it in. I think a medium pace is a 23 minute mile. Then the next day you walk 20 miles...and the third day you walk 10...By noon on Sunday most have reached the finish line and then there's the closing ceremony. Piece of cake! LOL I would imagine that noon on Sunday would be when I'd want to cut my feet off! LOL

Beautiful pictures Laura, 60 mile walk?  Feet or no feet, I can't wait to see those pictures when you get done..........lol..Good Luck Rosemarie if you join her..

Michele, Did you do the BC walk too?  I didn't see the pictures either. I have to say, you have some strange things going on with your posts.  I see the tree Laura is talking about but I never clicked on any of those icon's.

Deb, That is too bad you are having so much trouble with you sciatica. That can be so painful.  That's a good thing they are scheduling both your appt's together for your mammo and US that way you get them both over with at the same time.  They always do mine together and then I go right over to the breast surgeon and he reviews them.

Time for my appt. with the PT.  My hand is getting better although the fluid has moved up into my arm.  She said that is OK since it has to go somewhere and it should go down once my other lymph nodes take over and push the fluid through my heart and then it will go out my kidneys....Weird if you ask me.....

    Hi,

I had my walk on the weekend too. We had a beautiful sunny day but a cooltemp of 14C(55F). I felt string and am considering running it next year...

Deb, your darn scitica again. I hope it settles soon. Have you ever tried traction? Sometimes chiropractors can help...

Graycie I had mild LE last year after my flight to Switzerland. It settled without treatment and only swells when I exercise too much.

Yesterday I helped put down new tiles in the front hall. I was feeling "michely"LOL. IMy job was to put reinforcemnt screws in the floor as over the years the floor started to squeak. I was happily screwing, hmthat sounds bad...I was getting the job done when my husband came up from the basement announcing water spraying from the ceiling... I had hit the hose for the heating system! One trip to the hardware store and two hours later I was screwing again. The tiles are almost done. It will look nice i think.

My 2 year surgery date was last week and it passes without me even remembering it. The next day I looked at the night and couldn't believed it did not cross my mind the day before. So add me to the 2 year survivor club!

60 miles, I don't think my feet could do it. The rest of my body would be willing but not my feet. Will you train for the walk Laura. Did you get me PM with the link to our Dragon Boat team? We are finished paddling for the year so the rest of the season is just parties and social events together.

I loved the pics, Laura, tell Janclair she looks great.

    Fists up!

    Mary-Anne

    Hey ladies!

I'm here trying to slow down a little on the work tip.  I have a few events coming up that are keeping me busy.  I went to Baltimore this weekend, the weather was good and I had a pretty good time.

I have a living room full of summer clothes that I plan to pack in the suitcase that is STILL in there since the aborted trip to Chi Town.  The plan is to pack it so that when its time to go to Barbados in December all I have to do is grab it!  However, we all know the road to H*ll is paved with good intentions.

How is everyone doing?  The dreaded month of pink is upon us.  I'm not sweating it though, I think I look damned good for being young and breastless!!  Ooh, I bought a dress at Neiman down in B'more that was $225 on sale for $10!

Hi all,  I just wanted to say thank you for all your good wishes!  It's so nice of Laura and you all to think of me and welcome me into your group.  Laura gave me one of you RockTober Hats, so I really feel official!

I'm going in on Wednesday for a Upper GI and Gastric Emptying Study. The doctor is pretty sure that I have Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome with Gastroparesis- which is where your stomach just basically shuts down and stops moving. But, "given my history" they want to do all the tests to make sure there are no tumors, etc.  I guess we will always be hearing that now, "given your history".

I'm so excited to be doing the fashion show with Laura.  She's like a lucky penny to be around.  Who would have thought I would be getting free clothes from Ann Taylor Loft??

This isn't the best photo- but here is a picture of Laura coming across the finish line of the Race For the Cure:

Laura, Michele and JanClare: Great photos!

I officially do not have LE... at the moment. But I don't have upper body strength, according to the LE therapist, so she showed me some exercises. I want to put little Johnny on top of my tall cabinet. Would that count as upper body exercise?

Open House is in two days. I'll be better when it's over.

I like reading about everyone. Take care, ladies!

All the pictures look great! Michele..who is that with you?

Mary-Anne..I'm afraid of chiropractors. I know it's on my back but one of the first questions my neuro-ophthalmologist asked me when I was diagnosed with the dissected carotid artery was if I had been to a chiropractor. So, now I'm afraid to try. I noticed though, that if I keep moving I'm fine. I clocked my walk on the beach. It's close to 5 kilometers and no pain. Kinda hard to keep walking in my sleep though.

Sounds like you are happy with your Michele mode. LOL. I was ROFL with you happily screwing. Now I understand why Michele was happy all the time!

Tracy NY...Good to hear from you! wow..$10 for a $225 dress. Well done! You sound like you are busy and doing well.

JanClare..love your picture of Laura coming on through. Nice to see you posting here. Good luck with all your gastro tests. Doesn't sound too pleasant but at least you'll have some answers. That's the important part.

Brenda...I was wondering where you were! Glad to hear you do not have LE. I think you putting Little Johnny on the tall cabinet is definitely good exercise. I approve! Laughing

Had a visit from my chemo buddy who did Taxol with me. She came with her dh and cute little kids. She had done chemo first to shrink her tumor and then lumpectomy and snb. No node involvement but last Jan. she found a weird lump on the affected side..swelling...and so she had a biopsy and there was cancer found. She then had a mastectomy but no further treatments were recommended.

She's young..about 32. She said the doctor couldn't be sure if it was new cancer or something left over. That's when she said she needed to have her breast removed.

It was nice seeing her. She hadn't cut her hair at all since she finished chemo and now has long, almost shoulder length soft curls. She never had curly hair before. Last time I saw her she had short hair..that must have been a year ago...

Anyway..it was fun to see them again. We spent a lot of time together when we did our chemo...weekly...

Okay, found out why I have all those funny thingies in my messages, it is because I am typing the post in a word document and then pasting into here.

Janclaire - thanks you are a sweetheart for getting my picture posted, hope you are feeling better these days!  What do they do for that gastro condition that you were talking about?

Laura - thanks I found the little tree you were talking about, I guess that's how you include pictures too?  You pictures of the walk are great and it also looked like you had a great day too.  Love Shelby's shirt, did she design it herself with your help?

Okay where are the pictures of our famous Ann Taylor models?

I can see you putting the pedal to the medal on the old Goat.LOL.:)  I;m glad I wasnt in it either, haa haa...

Deb - that sucks that your legs are in pain again.  Do you take advil for pain relief to get some sleep at night?  Glad to hear that you booked that dreaded mamo and ultrasound.  Mine is in February but they were not schedulling any appts when I went with my requisitions last month.  I have a gp's appt for my "annual physical" on Oct 15 so will book them then.

I am ROFL now too, I didnt get Maryanne's post...OMG I am so DUH sometimes!  I wish that was the case unfortunately menopause has not been kind to me in that department.....but we do work at it....ha ha:)

The lady in the picture with me is my friend Julie who lives pretty local to me, met here in radiation last year.

Brenda - glad to hear that you dont have le.  Ha, ha your sense of humour is so funny, what did little Johnny do now that you want to hoist him up on the cabinet?

Maryanne - see its your turn now to have the energy and spunk to renovate, I am too pooped doing double duty at work to even think of packing tonight let alone putting in a floor.  I liked how you called it Michely mode.  I feel so special...hee hee:):)

Woo hoo, you forgot about your 2 year anniversary, its a good sign that you are moving onward!

Kelly - thanks.  The CIBC Run for the Cure shirts have a different design each year.   This year's was a series of butterflies in the shape of a ribbon.

TracyNY - you go girl, what a shopper!

    Have a great evening girls.

    Love you all!

Today was the big day! JanClare and I headed downtown this morning, in the breast cancer mobile of course! Traffic was great...when we arrived, JanClare walked to her Ann Taylor Loft store appt and I walked to my Ann Taylor (classic) store appt. BIG PROBLEM....I walked 12 blocks to the WRONG ANN TAYLOR store! When I got there, and realized my mistake, they said they'd call my fashion coordinator and tell her I was on my way! Well...12 blocks back...I arrived. I had major hot flashes from the stress, so I was sweating profusely! LOL And of course, I had on high heel boots...isn't that what any "model" would have worn! LOL But hey...give me some credit here... I was only 10 minutes late! LOL So...the outfit I will be modeling is: brown stretch/silky dress pants, a rust colored silk t-shirt, a brown/beige/rust colored wool jacket, brown suede stiletto boots (more to come about them!), a brown suede and leather tote bag, gold earrings and a gold necklace. WHEW....it's great....but...I put the boots on inside of the dressing room on carpet. I walked out of the dressing room onto a hard wood floor and - OMG - I slipped and almost fell! I am NOT KIDDING! LOL So...I will be bringing with me on the day of the show, sand paper and those "thingies" you put on the soles to prevent sliding. Yikes...dh said I should bring his electric sander to scuff 'em up! LOL   Okay...so...I'm standing in the dressing room talking to my coordinator, and in walks JanClare! So funny...but she got to see my outfit, but I didn't get to see hers!  She's quite savvy though...after she had finalized her outfit...she suggested an Ann Taylor winter coat to TOP IT ALL OFF! LOL So, yes...she is going to be the proud owner of a NEW ANN TAYLOR WOOL WINTER COAT! Why the heck didn't I think of that! LOL   But - all in all - it was a FAB day...the weather was gorgeous...traffic was great...we had lunch afterwards and the food was amazing...geesh...what more could we ask for?   Meeshell - My bell...you are truly an amazing source of energy...as I have said to Paula...will you be my little sister? Best  wishes to you and dh as you venture.   ravdeb - Hope your Sciatica probs go away...keep us posted.

Kelly..that is a wonderful story and the pictures are beautiful. You both look so different! You now both look so confident..what a difference a year can make.

Janclare and Laura..enjoy the Anne Taylor attire! sounds like fun. Also sounds like brown really IS in this year. I noticed that when I was in the States.

Michele..I don't take anything right now for the sciatica. I can't take Advil anyway. I can take Tylenol but I'm not taking it. I hate meds and I take enough stuff. If the pain is unbearable, I'll obviously take something. When I had pains with RA when I was hospitalized with my chemo catastrophe, I did take some strong pain killers and when they took me off of them to get a more accurate blood test, I complained big time. I was in terrible pain though. This is not TERRIBLE and it's not life threatening. It is uncomfortable and literally a pain in the as*! It is frustrating and makes me mad. And in the back of my mind I'm wondering if it's mets. It's WAAAAAAAAAAAYY back there but it's there...will ask my onc when I see her whenever that is...

I also wanted to add that for those women I've met...when you write, I can hear your voices..especially Mary-Anne's when you wrote about how you were..uhm...you-know-what! I could just hear you saying that and laughing!

Be well everybody...Check out the gmail..I believe a chat is going to happen this weekend! Bring out the martinis!

And as an aside...today is my Hebrew calendar anniversary of my first chemo..AC. I am not really that up on the Hebrew calendar but I had my first chemo on the day of the holiday of Simchat Torah which begins tonight. I had chemo in the morning and went dancing in celebration at our temple that night...I'm off to dance again if my sciatica allows me to..tonight.

    Mary-Anne -

Your screwing story was very funny! LOL And...yes, thanks for the d-boat info...l think I have found one in my area...I'm waiting to hear back from them. And yes...I will train hard for the 60 mile walk. JanClare is an ex-marathoner...so she will help me.

    TaDah -

Great find! Glad you popped in!

    Kelly -

    Amazing! You both look awesome.

    ravdeb -

    Hope you had fun dancing!
