Well I give up on posting a picture, I just don't know how to any more.  Guess I'll have to read up on this one.  I do like the old format better cause I can keep up with the conversation better.  My bruising and hives have almost all disappeared now that I've stopped taking the Tamoxifin.  I'm going to call my Onc next week and see what other meds they want me to take.  Funny thing is with all the chemicals they pumped into my body, this one gives me problems, go figure.  Hugs to all  Rosebud

Patti-that was beautiful, and I'm sure there were very few dry eyes in your church yesterday.  Thank you for sharing it with us - you summed this whole thing up so well.

I need to ask you all for a little input on a project I want to undertake.  Prior to my diagnosis in December, I was looking for a new career, because accounting is fine but I don't get the chance to interact with the public, and I miss that ( I managed an art gallery for 16 years and was a financial planner at a career school for 6 prior to the accounting job).  Within a week of my diagnosis, I KNEW what I wanted to do (I think I got cancer so I could figure this out).....I want to open a women's boutique selling wigs, mastectomy supplies, books, etc........dedicated not only to breast cancer but also other types of cancer women might be facing.  There is a new Women's Center being built by our hopsital, but not sure when that will happen.  I have spoken to the CEO of the hospital and they know my intentions and seem as if they will have space to lease to me for this venture.

What I am asking of you, my dear sisters, is your input.  I know most of you have already visited this type of a store.  What did you like?  What did you not like?  What items did you find you needed the most? How would you like to see a store like this run? Also, name suggestions (Hanover Women's Health Boutique just sounds so sterile.....) I bought my wigs and some other things from a similar boutique in another town, but was always amazed that all 4 times I walked in the door no one acknowledged me - even though she was not busy except on the computer.  That will NOT happen in my shop - EVERY WOMAN who walks through that door will be personally acknowledged and asked a few questions so I can determine how to help her.

So, if any of you would be so kind as to share your thoughts on this, I would greatly appreciate it.  It's probably at least 18 months away, but there's no time lie the present to set things in motion.

Thanks - and God Bless you all!  Off to surgery now............bye!

    Hi Diana,

There is a store in Calgary called Compassionate Beauty that does just what you had in mind.  The owner/operator is a cancer survivor named Sandra Shapiro.  I think you can Google the store for some info.  It was a great place to go when I was losing my hair.  It's almost like a spa when you go in - private rooms, comfy chairs, lots of cute hats and scarves.  And all pretty reasonably price.

Hope your surgery goes well and and you have a quick recovery, doll!

Patti - how lovely.  Your thoughts were well thought out and so true.

Diana - as a  big headed lady, I would suggest stocking larger sized wigs, when able.  I got frustrated finding a wig that fit comfortably on my head!

Rosebud - glad your problems are dissapearing.  That is weird that that the tamoxifin would be what caused you trouble.  Was the picture of you from the wedding?

Terri - when do you get your results?  I should get mine tomorrow.  Take care everyone!

the scheduler called me ~ 90 min b4 i was supposed to be at the hosp.

"Um, yeah, i guess I'm not supposed to schedule breast ultrasounds late in the day, as a radiologist is supposed to be there, so we're going to have to reschedule u for 11:30 tomorrow morning."

This, after i'd jumped thru hoops to get one DD picked up for brownies, and the other DD over to a friend's house, and i'd already TOLD the DDs they were going to get to spend time with friends...

    so, no results yet!

    keep us posted, jacque.

here's to a successful surgery tmrw for LisaSDCA!

Sorry Jacqniel, no wedding pics yet.  I asked my daughter but she said they are getting a book type album so I don't know just how long that takes.  I just want some pictures..LOL

dmknanny, I love that idea and I hope you can pull it off.  I hated the shop here, they tried to bring my self esteem into the gutter when I was there.  Saying thing like, "Your daughter would love it more if you had hair" and "you don't want to look back at those pictures and be embarrassed that you didn't have hair".  I will NEVER go back there again, I was iffy about going there in the first place and there prices where sooooo HIGH!  Wigs started at $200.00 and just went up.  The selection of hats and scarfs was nothing to brag about.  As for a name, how about Hanover's Heavenly Helpers a Boutique for Women with special needs... Heavenly Toppers, Tip Tops, Wig Wom, Wiggles, Bald-is-Us..ok, now I'm just getting funny..lol

playwritter...I hope everything turns out OK today on your scan!  It's scary but if your PET turned out NED then hopefully this will too.  HUGS!

Today is my birthday so I think I'm going to drive around in my hearse to remind myself that I'm not dead yet...LOL  I'm 45 today and proud of every thing this old bod of mine has gone through to get to this day.  I would like a little more hair..LOL  Have a great day all and HUGS to everyone...Rosebud

My wonderful onc called me last night about my scans from yesterday.  Unfortunately, I have had a progression and will be needing to change my chemo.  It has moved to my liver. Frown  He is going to do some research before he makes his final decision on what combo he will give me, so I have no idea what it will be.

There was good news, though.  The original mets are smaller or stable, except for a new spot on my thigh bone.  Such a strange little beasty.

    Happy Birthday, Rosebud!

Jacque - I'm so sorry to hear of your mets.  It seems as you've been through so much already, and now this.  Let's hope your onc comes up with a winning cocktail to take care of it and get things under control.

I just had a follow up with my surgeon this morning.  He aspirated me as I've been collecting fluid since the drain was removed.  I see him again next week and he will probably have to aspirate again.  I see my onc tomorrow.  Sounds like they will hold off on chemo until mid-October.

    love to all,

    Lisa

Jacque, that is such disappointing news! Let's hope the new cocktail will be soft on SE and deadly on C. It is great that the existing spots are under control, though. May God continue to keep you in His loving care. You are in my prayers.

Rosebud, glad you had a happy birthday. I just had mine last Saturday. A friend visited from out of town and we went to a local 'safari'. It was a blast!

    Anxiously awaiting your results, terri.

3boys, sorry to hear you keep collecting fluid. Hopefully that will be over before you know it. Good luck on the upcoming chemo.

Diana, hope the store for cancer ladies works out. We have a couple in my city and there is not a lot there! I'll try to come up with a couple of suggestions when I am not trying to dash off to work.

Speaking of work, I am in my fourth week back now and loving it. I feel good!! It seems like I have never been gone. It's kinda rough staying awake, as I am going through some training to refresh my memory. I'm just glad I'm not trying to learn a new job while half asleep!

My next heart test will be October 15. I hope somehow things will be looking better by then!

My thoughts are with you all!!!

    Miss S

PS Hi granny keenie! Phahahaha! (mine is growing in silvery, too!)

You women are absolutely amazing.  It builds my strength just to come here and read your posts.  I wish my long-term chemo brain allowed me to respond to everyone but please know that I am thinking about and praying for each and every one of you.

The store that we have here in town is called The Lovely Lady.  The woman there made me realize that I was beautiful regardless of how I looked.  She also had a clippers and would buzz your head for you if it was time.  I think that is an important service.  I let my kids buzz my head but if they hadn't, she would have done it for me.

Jacque, so sorry to hear of to mets to the thigh bone but wonderful news on the orginal mets.  Sounds like you have a wonderful onc.  My prayers will continue for wisdom for your onc and good results for you.

Miss S....Happy belated Birthday!!!!  Good to hear that work is going well for you.

LisaSD, prayers coming your way for a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Jacque - your strength and faith will get you through this.  You are a beacon to all of us, and we are praying for you to conquer this obstacle.

    LisaSDCA-hope surgery went well

Thank you all for your input on my boutique.  You've given me some great ideas that I have in my journal - I will be anxious to get an idea of when this might happen so I can get moving on it.

Oophorectomy went well, but that evening I passed out 3 times.  My surgeon said if it happened again I had to go to the ER - so I made sure it did not.  I think it was either low blood pressure or low sugar..........amyway, I'm feeling much better today.  Most of the gas is gone and the incisions are not too uncomfortable.  Going to Red Lobster with my DD & DDIL & grandchildren & MIL & FIL to celebrate MIL's 78th birthday...........

i bought "Crazy Sexy Cancer" and she advocates a raw foods diet. she was dx'd with Stg4 vascular cancer, and went on a raw foods diet, and the cancer went dormant....

of course the guy who wrote the blood type book says type O people should have organic, lean red meat 7 - 10 x a week, so now i don't know who to believe....

    It's me again!

Don't know if you've all heard about Terry Fox in America, but he was a young Canadian who started a run across Canada in 1981. He had lost a leg to cancer when he was 16 and decided to run to raise money for cancer research. Anyway, his run was cut short due to the return of his cancer. So, each year, for the last 26 years, people all over Canada and the world run to continue Terry's dream. So, why am I telling you all this?! Well, my little rural school dedicated our annual Terry Fox run to me this year. I was so touched! And this little group of amazing children and parents and my colleagues raised $850. That's a lot of money for a school of just 180 kids. I told the kids at the assembly that I met so many people during my tx that are so thankful for the money they raise. It was really heartwarming.

My family and friends and I will be doing the Run for the Cure this weekend, so I'll try to get some pics up next week so you can see us freezing our butts off for the cause. Hope everyone has a great weekend,

    Christine

Just wanted you all to know I won't be posting for a few days.  I haven't been feeling well and I need to gear up for my new tx on Monday.  I will check back in as soon as I can.

Grace and strength to you, Jacque! Wish I could be there to help you!

I camped out at the surgeon's ofc on Thursday for the results of the u/s. I read the report while I was waiting for him. They found a couple of echotic somethings at 7 and 8 o'clock and recommended an MRI, but the surgeon said since the PET in August showed NED, we'd wait three months, and then consider an MRI.

btw, here's what i look like these days:9-07halfinchofhair011.jpg image by playwritergirl

Christine...how wonderful of the school and I agree how heart warming.

Jacque...prayers that you are feeling better and that Monday's treatment has little se's and that it bombards the beast!  I agree wish that we could be there to help and give a big ole hug but know that you are in many prayers and thoughts.

Terri...glad you were able to get answers to your us right away....good for you on the camping out.  Love your new looks....you look wonderful!

Rosebud...what did they decide with you....are you going back on another AI?

Well, I survived a weekend of taking care of 3 granddaughters, 5, 3 (or 5 1/2 and 3 3/4 as they always correct me) and a 14 month old.  It was wonderful and we had such a great time.  I am so blessed to be here to enjoy them.  The dog is at my feet sound asleep and my DH is making a lemon meringue pie (my favorite) and all is right in my world.  My prayers continue for each of us to enjoy and make a difference each day!

    Hello to my ChemosabeSisters!

I survived my double mastectomy and reconstruction! I got exactly the muscle-sparing recon. I had been hoping for, good care in the hospital, and am recovering rapidly. Nonetheless, I still feel like I got hit by a truck.Laughing

I'll come back with more as soon as I can. Wanted you all to know I'm okay and to thank you for all of your blessings for me.

    Love,

hello dear ones...i have missed all of you...but have had little energy to post much since being back at work full-time.

so glad to hear news of one and all though it seems some of us are in for a long, rough journey still.  i pray for each of us every day and will continue to.

i've had a f/u appt with surgeon, rad onc and med onc but no one has mentioned anything about tests - MRI, PET or CT scans...it seems everyone else is getting that.  i guess i should ask..

    gentle hugs to every one,

    Hi everyone,

Just checking in to see how everyone's doing.

    Jacques,

My God woman will this ever end for you?  You know the last round is working since the previous mets have gotten smaller so let's pray the same happens this time around.  Be positive if you possibly can.  I'll be praying for you that this all will ease up one day for you.

    Rosebud & MissS,

Sorry I missed your b-day and hope you had a happy one.  I see your head has the baby fine fuzz like mine does rosebud.  Mine finally started to turn brown again but it's slow going.

    Holly,

Glad to hear you're back at work but know it's exhausting.  I've been waiting for 9 mos for a bone scan and ins. has denied once because it was submitted under the wrong code.  Was re-submitted months ago and still no answer yet.  I say no news is good news.  Don't know if I could actually handle at this point getting any bad news.  I hear about some of the girls here getting scan after scan and I've had nothing yet......lol

    Lisa,

So glad to hear the surgery is finally over.  I hope you have a speedy recovery.

The hubby bought me a new truck last Sunday.  Got a new GMC Envoy XL.  I love it but havn't had a chance to get in it but a couple of times.  I came down with a bad stuffed up head and bad cough.  The ds gave it to the hubby and he was kind enough to pass it off to me.  The water retention is finally gone and never did figure out what caused it but it wasn't the Arimidex.  The bone and joint pain has gotten a lot better since I started taking the calcium and magnesium x2 day.  Maybe I can actually start back on the treadmill soon and loose some more of this chemo weight now.  I'm so congested I've had to sit in a chair the past 2 nights just so I could breathe.

My oldest son and dil and the 5 grandkids were here today from San Diego.  It was so nice to see them all but my son caught me crying.  I was having a little pity party about not seeing the kids more......you know the grandma blues......hehe  My youngest grandson 1yr old this month looks just like me.  Baby fuzz hair just coming in and we looked like twins.

Ok I'm off to go suck on some more cough drops.

    Take care,

    Angel
