This was mentioned on the news this morning too. Whenever this issue arises among us, most posters call it a crap shoot, although clearly there has to be some cause-and-effect from certain factors. For me, it doesn't matter so much how I got my cancer, but I do think it's important for future generations to know what might tip the scales for them.

In my own case, I guess I triple-whammied....I drank alot, smoked alot and took hormones. Now I do none of those things and, instead, follow a pristine, healthy lifestyle. Will that keep the cancer from returning? I can only hope so but, really, I have no idea. Yet it's the best I can do and I leave the rest up to God or Fate or the Universe...

    Thanks for posting this.

I want to read the study, not just the media's conclusions. I feel there is just so much more to it than the alcohol. It's hormones in our foods, our genetic predisposition, as well as possibly our lifestyles.

I just refuse to feel guilty for "causing" my cancer risk to increase.

And I'll continue to have a drink or two when I feel like it.

    Just reading the story above:

"The researchers studied the drinking habits of 70,033 women of different ethnic origin who underwent health exams during the period 1978 to 1985 and looked at the breast cancer incidence in the cohort in subsequent years.

They found that 2,829 of the women had been diagnosed with breast cancer by 2004."

They should have broken it down by how many of those 2,829 were drinkers.  All of them?  If so, then how many teatottlers were dx'd from that group also?   Yes, we need to see the original research so we can see the difference for ourselves.
