So I gained weight. Had only one tata done after BC, today I put on a spanx camisole and guess what?

One hung low and one hung high. Crap!!!!

Guess what, I just looked at it and said, WTF? back to my bra.

I so wish I would have gotten them both done.

Janis

one hung low.

You could always get the other lifted.  Even before cancer one of my boobs was bigger than the other.  Go figure, the smaller one, was the one with the cancer, and after the lumpectomy, it was a whole size smaller.  That was a partial factor in having the mastecomties after chemo.

Just remember, you can always alter the other one--

chin up-- you're coming to NYC in two months and I can't wait to toast to your uneven boobs.Laughing

    WTF, indeed!

I am speechless (rare for me!) over the simple beauty of your note and the strength of your resolve to move forward.

    This is real life, hmm?

I was a low rider before recon too.  I insisted on having a breast reduction on the non-mastectomy side when I got my implant exchange.

Janis one hung low.  Sounds like a NA name to me.  Kind of like Tina two feathers.  NOT an ethnic slur.  I think it's kinda neat.

My unaffected side needs a little lift, too.  It wasn't done during my exchange surgery because it didn't look like I needed it while I was hanging upside down. (Not literally, but flat on my back with the table tilted a little down at the top. Duh) Now, the ps says she can do the very slight lift I need to "match" right in her office under local.  Sounds a tad scary, but better than another major surgery.

How much of a lift to you need?  Maybe it's a minor procedure.

You look OK in the bra?

Those camisole things look good, but they don't work for me at all.

The weird thing is that I had some before bc, and quit wearing them because they didn't do anything for me. And they still don't.

That's why I had the lift in the non-affected side ... but I am not happy with my mast side. I did the implant and I really don't like it, don't even want to finish and want to do the diep.

Me too! The lumpectomy one is half the size and two inches higher. I've found if I stuff them in a bra a little too small for the "good" side they squash enough to even it out.

Hi gals, here in California, at least, insurance companies are required by law to put you back together, looking the way you did before cancer, as best they can. I have one breast a LOT smaller than the other. But the big decision is, do I want any surgery? I don't think so. But I bet that for the younger gals and those still dating, you might want to check this out in your state. Believe me, the docs/oncs/surgeons will never tell you.

    Hugs, Shirlann

My affected breast is somewhat smaller & higher than the normal one, but I'm not sure that anyone can notice it but me and whoever I make a big deal about it to. I considered having work done on it and the other to make them Barbie-perfect (and Playboy-bigger), but the plastic surgeon, who is known as the very best by everyone here at both Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill, didn't recommend that I go to all of the trouble of surgery, especially if the rads had affected the skin to the point where an implant would fail. It didn't take much to convince me and I've decided to appreciate what I've got. In fact, I actually think that my scar makes it look very cool (hot? Undecided)!!!

    But I'm a little weird.....

Marin, I appreciate what I've got, too.  Perfection has not yet been reached but even if it never is, I am very happy.  Especially after reading about the experiences of others.

Man, it may not be a real BREAST but it's my real SKIN and I love it to pieces! Cool

My scar looks like a flat island with a small uplift like a volcano...so as i looked at it i saw the ocean being the blue dye that still is present below the area where my nipple once was. I think i will get some magic markers and draw out my island with soft waves lapping toward the beach.

Someone in my family don't ask me who had one done, you look better with two. But that being said with bra is okay. When did this forum change so much?

    Hey everyone! Especially you Fitz!

    Doreen,

I have been so busy working and juggling my mom, kids, dogs, goats and cattle even Carrie has slipped my circle. Trixie and Rose emailed me a long time ago. I have been way to busy, and now I realize I have to slow down. So I am limiting myself to 15 minutes a day here.

I am thinking this forum most fits where I am. I like to help those just starting but it takes a lot of energy I don't seem to have anymore.

I am forever uneven but I wear a prothesis.  Everytime I gain or lose weight the fake boobie never matches my regular boob.  I wish I would have removed both at the time I had my bc and could just go flat chested.  My onc said I am healthy enough to do the surgery but I am not sure if I want to put myself through an unnecessary surgery at this point in my life....

For the "flat" gals that don't want to do anything, one lady had the most beautiful tattoo, huge, that took into consideration her lumps and scars, it is a work of art.

    Just an idea.

I'm right there with ya.  I had a left mastectomy, and also had a breast lift and small implant done to the right side.  Once I was completely healed, they looked incredibly close in symmetry.

However, 5 years and nearly 50 pounds (gasp!) later, my right side is huge, so I can't go without a bra like I was able to after my surgeries were completed.  I had to go buy new bras, that fit the big side, and then add padding to the other side.  Even if I'm able to take off some weight, I'm not sure if they'll ever match again.  I feel like I've ruined my plastic surgeons great work.  He did warn me this would happen if I gained weight.

At my age with only a lumpectomy behind me, I have two hung low!  It could be worse - I'd change the "one hung low"  to "one flies high"!

My lumpectomy breast was my larger breast. It is now my smaller breast. The nipple is at least 2 inches higher than the left one. My husband said I need a lumpectomy on that one too. He's so funny isn't he? Also since radiation 2 years ago, the right nipple is 2 shades lighter than the left. Never mind the 2 inch scar on the breast, and the 3 inch one under my arm.

All this bothers me sometimes, but I just keep telling myself to be happy I'm still here!

Me too!  I had my other breast reduced and lifted 5 years ago.  My tram breast was not the pefection I saw in the photos before surgery.  Part of the flap died and had to be cut away.  I have no nipple.  I do have Victoria Secret and there great padded bras to even me out!  So the rest of the world can't tell only me and my husband and he doesnt care.  He was the one who suggested the bras and it made me feel so great to feel even and look "normal".  They are pricey but I'm sure if I looked I could find something more in the normal price range that does the same thing.

Two years ago I had lumpectomy on the left breast (my smaller breast) and the lump was right behind the nipple. When all healed I had a lift on that side with a perky nipple and a droopy on the right. Along with an A-cup on the left and C-cup on the right.

Last year I had lumpectomy on the right breast outside quadrant and it did not change the size or shape of that one. Still A-cup / C-cup.

This year I was dx with DCIS on the right and opted for bilat because of earlier dx of ADH. When I went to ps I told him I did not want great big hooters - only a pair that matched. My expanders are pretty close to matching and I go for exchange surgery Nov 4. My PS said that I will be matching after the surgery.

    Janice,

I am in the same boat. You typed the exact words I feel every day when I dress. I've been wearing a padded, non-wire bra now for 2 1/2 years and still can tell the difference in my clothes that I have a hanger and a perky. It sucks. I wish I had done both, too.
