How did you feel after 12 weekly Taxol + Herceptin

I had very little reaction at all to the Taxol/Herceptin combination. A few aches in my legs and numbness in my toes from the Taxol, but totally bearable. And 17 days afterward, I know I felt fine.

I am halfway through four treatments (each three weeks apart) of Taxol + Herceptin and feel fine well before my next treatment. The only issue I have had is some fatigue, which is manageable. (I had four A + C previous to this regimen.)
Enjoy your trip! -
Kath,
I had 4 DD Taxol with Herceptin and I can say that 2 1/2 weeks after my last tx I was feeling really good. I should also point out that I was extremely fatigued by the Taxol during tx. I think you will be good after 17 days! However, traveling abroad is pretty ambitious. You may want to wait and see how well you deal with Taxol.
Good luck and I hope you get to go. Italy is fantastic!

I just finished the exact same treatment a week ago, 4 DD AC then 12 weekly taxol with herceptin. Right now I feel pretty bad, am hoping that will change as the others have posted. Started having back pain about 6 taxol/herceptin treatments in which has progressed to my legs along with the nueropathy to fingers and toes, which is more bareable. Good luck, hope you are feeling well for your trip, and hoping I will follow others that have posted here
However, I did/do have bone mets to the back, but scan showed that the chemo had worked so onc said back pain was from chemo not cancer.

Thanks for all the replies. I will receive Taxol #9 tomorrow. So far so good. My white blood cell count got pretty low but I did get a couple Neupogen shots last week so I should have better counts this week. Still planning on going. Since I've made it this far without too many problems, I'm counting on making the trip. Anyone else done with Taxol and remember two weeks out?

Hi Kathleen and thanks for posting such an excellent question. THe answers are helpful to me too. My husband and I are planning a trip to Oregon and Washington in the early spring and I've wondered how I'll feel by then (I'm currently doing 4 DD A/C with tx #4 on Monday, then will do Taxol+Herceptin+rads). I sure do hope you get to go to Italy-- I've never been but I just know it is beautiful! Have fun, take care of yourself and enjoy your trip!!

Thank you everyone for posting!
Hi Mary Jo,
Well, now I can answer my own question. Here I am, 12 days from my last Taxol, and I'm feeling great! I leave for Italy in six days! I am a little tired, but I had a long week last week of driving up and down California to see my children. I did get a flu shot last week and I will have a blood test Monday to make sure my blood counts are not low. If they are low I'll get a Neupogen shot. Just let your doctor and nurses know your plans and they will take of you. Mine have been wonderful doing everything to make sure my treatment didn't get delayed. It took a couple of Neupogen shots to keep those counts up, but it looks like I should be just fine to leave next Friday. Best wishes to you for a successful treatment. AC was the hardest for me. Taxol with Herceptin was so much easier, and Herceptin alone is even easier. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Oregon and Washington!
Ciao!

I am at week #5 taxol/herceptin weekly infusions. I've not started the hair loss yet. Could I be in that rare 4% who do not loose their hair? Also, I actually feel pretty good. Some neuropathy, but not a lot, some fatigue but not a lot. Am I just really wishful dreaming?
-
My hair thined but I did not lose it all during my taxol. It still continued to thin a little when I was just on the herceptin but then it stopped and hair has grown back slowly. Next month will be my last herceptin.. I did have neuropathy with the taxol but it went away 6 or 8 weeks after I stopped the taxol. The herceptin has bothered my joints alot and I am looking forward to being done. The fatigue for a couple weeks after finishing taxol was overwhelming. I slept one weekend away. But then it started getting better and pretty much was gone before I started radiation 8 weeks after taxol was done. Hope this helps. Annette

HI everyone out there!
I actually lost more hair on taxoyl down to my eyelashes and eyebrows.. i also did four rounds of ac prior to this taxoyl and herceptin. i just finished my 10th treatment today. 2 more to go!! the last three treatments have been very challenging for me. My white cell count is low. Aches and pains in my legs and arms, and just feeling drained. But compared to ac well let's say there is no comparision and I can sleep. My son actually calls me sleeping beauty on this treatment haha
I hope you enjoy your trip. Please let us all know how it goes and make sure to enjoy some gnocci over there!! And a lot of canolis and tiramisu:):)

I HAVE FINISSHED 3 OF 12 WEEKLY TAXOL TREATMENTS AND AFTER THE 2ND DAY I ACTUALLY FEEL BETTER THAN BEFORE THE TREATMENT. I THINK THIS IS DUE TO FACT I HAVE COMPLETLY CHANGED MY DIET . ON 2ND DAY I FEEL LIKE I HAVE THE FLU. I AM TAKING FAT SOULABLE VITAMIN B1 AND 12 FOR NEUROPATHY. I HAVE LOST NO HAIR SO FAR. I HAVE TO DO RED DEVIL NEXT . ANY ADVISE GIRLS? GOOD LUCK TO YOU.I HOPE YOU HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE.
