Mighty Yogurt

I love yogurt.  It's good for you and your bones (more calcium than the same volume of milk), full of protein, too.  It's a quick lunch or snack.  It can even help make you regular!

I'd like to trade yogurt recipes.  Anybody wanna play?

Here's a start.  My quick yogurt brunch treat.

1 cup organic, low fat yogurt, plain (I use Stoneyfield.)

1/4 cup Kashi Nuggets (or find an organic brand you like)

Mix well and let sit for about 15 minutes until Nuggets are softer.  Sweeten to taste if desired.  Enjoy.

This is really satisfying to eat because of the texture of the cereal.  Makes you feel you've really eaten something.

Another tip:  Stoneyfield Farms published a yogurt cookbook years ago.  Just saw the second edition on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Stonyfield-Farm-Yogurt-Cookbook-Hirshberg/dp/0609803891

Tina...I get emails from Stonyfield Farms with lots of recipes, but didn't know about the cookbook. I like your idea about the Kashi Nuggets....I've used Grape Nuts in a similar way.

One of my favorite yogurt 'recipes' is scooping peach yogurt over a bowl of sliced fruit...I usually use a banana, kiwi and grapes and add berries when I can find good ones. I usually sprinkle wheat germ over this, but those Nuggets sound appealing too!

I mix a container of lemon yogurt with some frozen blueberries and let it sit for about 20 minutes.  The yogurt hardens into an almost an ice-cream consistency.  Yum!

hayseed, Kashi Nuggets is a cereal similar to Post Grape Nuts.  Multi-grain.  Here's a link.  I don't know if they are available down under.

Marin, thanks for the info about the e-mails.  I will go to their site and sign up.

    OOoohh, Towanda, frozen yogurt. Mmmmm.

One of the things I make from the Stonyfield Farms cookbook is a quiche using yogurt instead of milk or cream.  It's delicious but I have to warn you that you must use full fat or low fat yogurt to make it as non-fat just runs all over the place.  It won't set right.
