We Will Find a Cure for Breast Cancer
Ive set a fundraising target of $1000 and Id greatly appreciate any contribution you can make to help me attain my goal no matter how small. If I can get 1000 people each to pledge a loonie, I will have succeeded at meeting my goal! The Run generates critically important dollars that support breast cancer research, education and awareness programs.
This year, an estimated 22,300 Canadian women and nearly 170 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Your donation will be added to the funds raised by the Run, and will be directed towards research, education and awareness programs. This years Run will take place in more than 50 communities on the same day across Canada, and we anticipate nearly 170,000 participants.
You may donate in a couple of ways. If you would like to make a secure online donation, please visit https://www.cibcrunforthecure.com/html/personal_page.asp?track=2083284&languageid=1
Payments can be made by cash, cheque or credit card. You can also contact me at (519) 250-8551 or by mail at 2715 Bramley Crescent, Windsor, ON N8W 4X3.
Thank you so much. Together we can create a future without breast cancer.

The "Run for the Cure" is taking place in many cities across Canada on September 30th. There may be participants in your area who are also trying to raise funds.
Here is the link to the CIBC Run for the Cure website:

That is great you have found a good cause. I wish they would name these race for the prevention. Maybe then so many of us would not have to suffer.
-
Oh I am not trying to raise any funds as I am not participating in this event and I'm not sure I support the Breast Cancer Foundation of Canada. I guess I was trying to make a point that there are many many people across the Country who are trying to raise money in order to participate in this event. I don't believe that this forum should be used for personal fund raising.

Why don't you support the Breast Cancer Foundation ?
-
Lynne, I am curious about why you aren't sure you support the Breast Cancer Foundation.
I agree....many women across Canada are trying to raise funds for this event. I will be walking the 5km with my 12 year old granddaughter in Calgary and I am really looking forward to it.
When I was recovering from surgery last year, she signed up for the run and on her own raised $250. I was overwhelmed.

Bonnie, I didn't say I "don't support the Breast Cancer Foundation" but I'm not 100% sure. I have questions about some of the corporations which attach the pink ribbon to their products in contract with the Foundation. It's a personal choice for me. I just didn't think that this site should be used for individual fundraising when there may be friends and coworkers in our own communities looking for support for the Run for the Cure Event.

I was just doing what I could and using whatever means I felt appopriate to try and raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer research. Sorry if it offended you. It wasn't for personal fund raising - it was for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Furthermore, I have no alterior motives - I am simply trying to help in any way I can to find a cure for breast cancer.

Hats off to the Canadian teams as they start their races for the cure!! Though not a Canadian, I have Canadian connections as my daughter is married to a Canadian (did I say the word enough here
), and her husband's aunt is a survivor of this disease. We to the south of you will start our runs in October. I did my first walk last year --4 months into the bc journey. And I felt wonderful afterwards!! We raised oved $15,000, and it went locally for new mammography equipement.
Having said that, my thought is this----why isn't it called the run for the "cause"? In my mind, we can't cure until we find out the why...the why being why some of us mutate these cells, and after treatment, mutate again. When we find these reasons, then the "cure" will fall into place.
Again---good luck to all of your that are running, walking, etc. this weekend!

I'm doing the walk on the 30th...my first one. First year I've felt physically and emotionally ready to tackle this. I wish I had the strength and stamina to do the weekend....Pink Fairy I admire your family for doing this...wonderful!!
I hear you LHA...run for the cure is optimistic...run for the cause covers everything...I would expect they want to always hold out hope that a cure will be found.

Have fun with your event, EachDay!! After I finished my walk, I felt more empowered against this disease. My dh and I will walk again this year, and we are also Breast Cancer Advocates for Y-Me. Not sure what we can do with that, but again, the whole empowerment thing is rather---well---empowering!!!
Your diagnosis was the same as mine, except I was a Stage1a. May you continue to have good health.
-
Thanks for the encouragement! I'm looking forward to doing this.
As you said, it's empowering...and that's something I think we need to feel about life in general after bc...and even during bc...that we have power and empower ourselves.
Being committed to educating, advocating and talking about breast cancer is important in our own recovery and as we move forward.
May you as well continue to have good health!!
