I tried to  ask the question in a way that would get through the thick skulls of some/most of the candidates. Do you think I accomplished this?

It looks good, Amy. I think that you ask the pertinent question. But I also think that it's broad enough to allow candidates to dance around with an answer. Unless you make it alot more specific, the candidates who are going to do nothing will just give a vague reply anyway. To put them on the spot, you might have to ask about just one issue, like entitlement to Social Security benefits.

But you look great and come off as intelligent & well-spoken.

Marin do you have any suggestions for how I can make it more specific? I wish I could be there to question them and do follow-ups when they dance around the issue-- of course--  I have no idea what would happen to me if I was in a room with that many republicans-- I might spontaneously combust Surprised

    Amy,

Maybe you could ask : If your son or daughter was gay and in a long term relationship, would you want him/her to have the same rights as a son or daughter who was in a hetro relationship?

I have found when we ask doctors, "if your wife had cancer what would you prescribe" they give the answer a lot more thought because it hits home.

BTW- I LOVE the pink you have in your house. Esp around the door panels and your cat cracks me up!

NS, my whole house in pink (on the inside). Your suggestion is a good one-- I just worry Dick Cheney has already given them an "out" with that question. I was thinking of doing another question making it real personal, "how do you think it feels to be a citizen of the united states not have the same rights under the consitution as my hetersexual counterparts. It isn't legal to discriminate against people for race or religion-- yet my marriage to wife isn't recognized or gived the same legal status as yours is. What would you to do make sure that I'm given equal status under the constitution." The issue makes me very emotional and asking would definitely show in my voice.
