LorieAnne is having computer troubles, and wanted me to post this message from her:
Hi Michigan Warriors!
I like that phrase.."Michigan Warriors"..Anyhoo, I have not been on much..work..work..work..thankfully it is slowing down. Welcome to all the new posters!
I have my CT today..wish me luck. The lymph node seems to have not grown any (that I can tell); but, I think this definetly will be more conclusive. Candi....I was sorry to hear of your struggles..I wanted to ask you..what was your pathology intially with BC? I just spoke to another women who is unergoing TAC and is having a tough time. She was surprised to hear that I opted for no adjuvant therapy-almost a look of disbelief. (shrug)
Now, on to another happier topic. Any ideas where you want to meet the first weekend in November?? We could do lunch and/or dinner. Would you all like to meet in Ann Arbor? They have some really nice resturants (I really like Weber's)--or we could just go with a Olive Garden if you would like. I DO PLAN on going this time-PERIOD!
Okay, shout out some ideas!
Lorie -
Hi All.....
Not sure how to post this other than to write what the end results were for my CT scan.
There are two areas of concern/questions..one is an abnormality in the right side of my neck; the other is there are two small nodules in my lungs. Now, my oncologist wants to see me in 4 weeks; do another scan to see if in fact both of the areas of concern are "growing"; she wants to see me at St Joes on the 15th..and I am wondering if in fact this is just the beginning for breast cancer mets. (sigh)
Keeping a positive attitude sure has taken me for a loop last night--I just feel like hiding in a closet. Anyhoo, I could use a bolt of joviality from all of you, so let me know when and where you all want to meet.
I wish you all a happy day/

I finally got around to introducing myself. I'd love to attend your next get together. I'm a 57 year old teacher. I live in Rochester Hills near Oakland University & teach on the east side of Detroit in a small public high school. I have 3 grown children, 1 married in Kalamazoo, 1 studying in South Africa, and a daughter who lives with me and is a lifesaver. I was diagnosed August 19. I've had a mastectomy with an expander implanted right away. Last week I was in Henry Ford Hosp. with a very serious infection. It was the mast., not the implant. I'm still getting IV antibiotics from a visiting nurse. I'm waiting for a axillary node dissection before they decide on chemo. I get very nervous about each new development. I'd really like to return to work, but it doesn't look possible right now. Is anyone else being treated by the Henry Ford system? I'd really like to meet you all. So far, my diagnosis is Stage II metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma. It's supposed to be aggressive. It's Estrogen and Progestin positive. I'm optimistics again & hope I can continue that way.

Hi Luckyana:
Welcome!!
I am 57 and am being treated through the HFH System. I am at the follow-up stage. I had a stereotachtic needle biopsy at the Fairlane Center, a lumpectomy at Wyandotte Hospital and radiation at Josepine Ford Cancer Center-Downriver. Overall, I would rate my experience as an A minus.
I believe that we, as a group are so fortunate to live in Southeastern Michigan because the cancer health care resources are so plentiful and excellent.
I am looking forward to our next meeting. I would prefer lunch on 11/7/04 rather than Dinner. We are active in Marriage Encounter and have a Marriage Encounter function that evening. I am willing to drive to the east side or to Ann Arbor.

Hi gals!
Hey luckyanna, you found us!! Hi!
I think we need some of you on the east/north side of town to give some restaurant suggestions; I know I'm not too familiar with the area. I also agree with Pam on a lunch date, Saturday nights can get pretty hectic at restaurants.
If we don't catch everyone's attention soon, I'll pm the others to get their ideas and see if they can go.
Hugs

Hello all and welcome to the new ladies. This group has grown and that is wonderful.
I too have been so busy...working like a dog and keeping up with one night class a week. Economics...ugh! And trying to get back into bathing suit shape for an upcoming vacation.
I am interested in meeting and will see if Connisue can as well.
I have my first routine mammogram this Thursday...the first one after my baseline that started this whole thing. It has been ten months since diagnosis.
Take care. -
Not Me:
Good luck with your mammogram. Hopefully, they'll be able to read it as soon as you have it, to alleviate the anxiety of waiting.
Economics can be a drag!!
Looking forward to seeing you.
Pam -
Blessings for a wonderfully clear mammogram!!!! Please let us know.
Hugs,
Pat -
I have to admit...it was a scary process. When I went for my baseline last year (12/23/03)...I just thought it was another routine test. They called me...I checked my messages while on our FL vacation and there were like five of them from Beaumont. I called and they said...come back, we routinely call back one in five. I still thought it was routine. You know the rest of the story. Today...I got a NED result. Thank God...this is truly the best birthday present...I am turning 42 yeart old tomorrow. It been a heck of a year. May god bless us all.

Hi girls!
Hey Lorie, I'm sorry...I can understand you wanting to just hide from this whole ordeal. Did you have radiation? Maybe it's just scar tissue on the lungs? I will keep you in my thoughts, and keep everything crossed for you.
Ok ladies, we need some suggestions for restaurants. Especially from those of you that are in the east/north areas of metro Detroit. All I can offer up is the Champp's I mentioned last time, at 13 mile and ...I forget the other road, have to look that up, but I think it is in Bloomfield or West Bloomfield. Don't know if that is any closer for those of you in Troy/rochester area??? Other ideas welcome...
Chris, I'm sooo glad your mammogram was good!!! I will be in that same boat next month, for my first mamm since starting treatment, and my 41st birthday (8 months since dx). I suppose I should get that mamm scheduled soon...
Talk to you gals later!
Hugs
Judy -
Hi everyone. No, I did not drop off the face of the earth, although sometimes I feel I have. I returned to traveling and do not have access to this while on the road. Either that or I haven't figured out how to do it!
I had to go to the hospital today because of an infection on the bottom of my nipple. It happened while I was in Indiana and got worse. Drs. don't know why or how I got it, but gave me some meds, but it sure does hurt@!!!!
Did I see you are planning another get together? Oh, please give details.I am still uspset that I missed the last one. For those new, I live in Troy and can carpool.
Even though I am not on as much here, I do think and pray for each of you every night, my Michigan sisters!
Take care and hugs to all

Chris:
I am so happy for you that your mammogram came out clear. It sure is a relief for you. Looking forward to seeing you in November.
Pam -
I'm up for another get-together. I'm in the process of a move so may not be able to post for a while. If a get together is scheduled I hope I will be notified. Thanks and looking forward to seeing everyone again.
-
Chris:
Thank God for a good report and a happy belated birthday too!!! I sent you a PM regarding my GYN - hope you got it. If not, let me know and I can resend the info.
Blessings,
Pat -
Gerri:
Good luck in your move - glad to hear you sold the house and all is going along well.
Blessings,
Pat -
Hi all:
I went on the Internet and found a restaurant on 14 Mile in Royal Oak that sounds interesting. The name is boocoo, a parody of Beaucoup (French). Here is a sample of their lunch menu. If this sounds good, I'll call and make reservations for Saturday, Novemebr 6 for 12:30 PM. I need to know the number of people who are interested by this Saturday morning. I'll be out of town Sunday to Friday.
Pam W.
lunch menu
Including items such as Almond Crusted Calamari, Antipasto Savoie, Wild Mushroom Pizza, Goat Cheese Ravioli, Grilled Sirloin Strip Steak Wrap and much more. -
I won't be able to make it, I have to work that weekend. Maybe I'll be able to make it to one in the summer when I have a vacation.
-
Hi Pam
Sounds great to me! Do you know the crossroad...14 mile and ??? Every weekend in Nov. is busy for me, (my son joined cub scouts and they've got us booked solid) but I'll squeeze it in!
Hope everyone is well. Do you think we should post a separate posting for this...doesn't seem that many of us are online as often. Or we could email everyone...
Hugs
Judy -
Hi Girls,
Check out boocoo.com It looks like it is at 14 and crooks.
I am pretty sure that I will be able to go.
Lorrie (Shelby twp) -
Judy:
I posted this under the other thread as well but wanted to be sure you didn't miss it. I will not be able to make the lunch on Nov. 6th because we will just be arriving back in town that day from Charleston and Savannah. We're leaving tomorrow (Oct. 30) and returning on Nov. 6th. I really would have loved to come - I will make it the next time for sure. Blessings to all our Michigan ladies!!
Pat -
Am I too late to rsvp? Are you still getting together next weekend? Shoot - I'm getting behind on my posts but I'd like to join you.
-
YooHooooooo! LOL Any other ideas for this weekend, either 11/6 or 11/7? I am game for anyplace on either day. Either lunch or dinner--whatever the group decides.
The following link has listings for every city in MI. Lots of restaurant listings. http://phonebook.superpages.com/yellowpages/C-Restaurants/S-MI/
I also thought of "familiar" restaurants like TGIFridays, Champps, J Alexanders..these all have wide open spaces big enough to accomodate a group, not just small tables where we would be divided.
Papa Vino's
1317 Coolidge Road
Troy, MI 48084 Papa Vino's Menu 248 458-0642
I am sure we can come up with SOMEthing LOL
Hugs, Michele -
Wow. It's already November. Hope we get some people to come join us on Saturday! I have been crazy busy with school and sick children, but like you, I don't care where we meet. I will email some other girls tonite, and see what kind of response we are getting.
I'll write again later on.
Judy -
Hey Nancy, of course you're not too late!
Ok. I've emailed/pm'd DebraLynn, LorieAnne, Gerri, Candi, KDJ RN, Sanam (alex), and Luckyanna. I think that Lorrie, Nancy, Chris, Pam and myself are already set to go, and Pat (pconn)and Mom2acat both said they can't make it. Hope I didn't miss anyone! Hopefully we will have a large group!
Ok, I'll talk to you guys later! Someone needs to pick a restaurant in that area and make us some reservations. Last time we reserved for 16, but only had 8.
Hugs
Judy -
There were two new people - Molly and BonBon on page 7 of this thread. I'll send them a quick pm and see if they want to join us. I think we are still missing people - sorry!
-
Hi Gals,
Papa Vino's looks like a good choice. Would that be central enough for everyone? I live in Shelby so it would be o.k. for me, but would like somewhere convenient for everyone. Lorrie -
Hi Everyone
I have not been on much-I hope noone is mad at me...between work, medical issues..blah..blah..
Just post where you all want to meet. I hate to drive long distances; but will go where you want me too!
Lorie -
Papa Vino's would work for me. Which date & what time? I'm THERE!
Hugs, Michele -
Hi
Papa Vino's sounds great. Who can call and make reservations? The count so far seems to be 5 of us: me, Lorrie, LorieAnne, Nancy, Chris...I think DebraLynn is coming, but I haven't heard back from anyone yet. That would make 6. Hopefully we'll get more gals to go. Oh, and Chris might bring ConnieSue..that would be 7. Maybe we should wait another day or two before reserving tables.
Judy -
Plus Pam and Michelle - right?
