mets to lungs! doxil or trial drug

Just looking for some info.  I previously had soft tissue, bone and liver mets which are all under control and no progression from the xeloda.  On Friday I was diagnosed with lung mets.  Clinical trial would be suberoylanilide hydroxamic Acid with herceptin or stick with herceptin which I am already doing and add doxil. 

Any thoughts?

    No thoughts on what you should do but want to send a hug and wish you well.  What stage is the trial?

    I've not heard of the trial drug, but there isn't much harm in a trial.  They watch you closer in a trial and any signs of progression and they remove you from the trial and get you on tried and true drugs.  Who knows, it could turn out to be a good drug and you will get excellent results.

    I just got the news I have new lesions in my lungs, and my current chemo is not working, my doctor says we may be trying doxil, but right now he is sending me on to Mayo Clinic to see if they have anything new, if I find out about a trial drug there, I'll get back on here and tell you.  I am recpt. negative so they won't give me the Herceptin that seems to help all the rec positive people.

    These new lesions are a shock, as I thought I was improving, but not have much side effects from taxophene/gemzar(spelling??) but guess I shouldn't think so much with this, cause everything is stil active, more lesions in my lymph nodes and bones too--hoping I find something positive at the the next stop.

    I know the trial they offered me is Her2 positive cause you also take herceptin along with it.  Doxil has a great name so maybe it will work out well for you.

    I am Pro-trial.  I've been on 2 now and have no complaints.  The first one kept the cancer at bay for 2 years!  I just started my second one.  As someone said earlier, you really don't have anything to lose as they monitor you SOOOO closely on a trial.  Any signs of progression and you're pulled off.  And another positive note, on any trial, the trial drug is always administered with something that's tried and true so you are at least getting a chemo that you know has proven results.

     Decision making is always the hardest of times.  Good luck.  I have no doubt that you're make the right choice for you.
