Arsenic, Chicken, and Pink Breasts

Options

Hi all;

I was reading in yesterday's, or Saturday's news that most of the chicken we purchase at grocery stores or restaurants icontains arsenic, used to make the color of the chicken flesh "pinker", fresher and more appealing to the consumer.  Apparantly it is used as an additive in the chicken foods...

I live near egg farms, chicken farms, and holy moly, the stifling and disgusting way these animals are kept, not to mention the polution to water and air, is repulsive, cruel, and should be stopped.  The stuff we eat is likely half dead before it's killed and sent to market.  Sick, I know.

What other bi-products are contained in our meats and veggies to make them more "enticing"?  Dyes in oranges, red dyes for farm raised salmon, and I have no idea what the poor cows are injected with; used to know, but I think it was banned. To overcome that one, the food industry began importing beef from all over the world.  Mad cow disease...mad food industry disease!

    Thanks for the heads up on this, Indi! Wow, that kind of news makes me want to eat even less chicken and meat in general. I don't buy much fish because it's too expensive and because the one I love (salmon) has the red dye. I do try to eat organic, yet that's expensive too for a family. We do cook more beans, grains, veggies, but we all still like those pizza's etc..

    Almost makes me wonder if I should move in with a native Tibetan for a while to change my diet. They live forever it seems....

    Thanks,

    Tender

    Indie for HEAVENS SAKE!DONT eat that stuff!!PLEASE!!

    Organic poultry, meat, dairy products are purew and wholesome, and dont cost scads, buh-lieve me.I'm poor, but I know if you shop the weekly specials you can afford them!!Getting into the frame of mind of affordability instead of buying whatever you want is MUUUUCH easier than trying to feed your family blighted, poioned food!

    Wild salmon has no dye.Even the conventional supermarkets sell it.

    You need to heal yourself through nutrition.Poisoned food aint gonna do it!

    Hopefully, Joan

    Everything I read said avoid the top dirty foods, meat, poultry and dairy.  Our country does not protect us from the pesticides, insecticides, hormones and cannabilistic feed practices in these industries.  It is enough to make you a vegan if you could figure out a way to get calcium.
