What is GOING ON around here????

Would it be too much of a BREECH of SECURITY to list in the chart WHO started each thread, as it used to??
(Oh wow. They have made the letters in this box seeable!THANKS!!)
And "15 hours ago is part of the new pretensiousness.
It USED to list the founder of the thread, the date, the hour.Everything one needed to know.I do not see how this comprimised SECURITY!!
(Silly, to me.I have NEVER had any security issues here.)
Now you actually have to go to the thread, so see who wrote it.A pain.Especially for those of us on less-than-fast 'puters. And another unneccessary step.
Bleah.
And another impersonal-making thing.Along w/ditching our avatars. It WAS fun to see the avatars. And it is human nature to want to join threads of our friends. They'll never knock this out of us, and make is into the little impersonal computing machines they want us to be.!(Yeah I know I could put an avatar on.But frankly I just dont want to bother.)
This place used to be a refuge, filled with family.
Now it is like...any other website.Worse than many.
CERTAINLY not OUR website of old.
(getting ready to click and get the stupid "We're so sorry" error message as the program actually posts the post I just made.Yah!)
-
I HATE this new format. Not only is loging in every flipping time I go the to site a pain, but no longer can I just get to the newest post in a thread. Clicking on a thread just places you back at the very first comment.
This is the most non user-friendly message board I've ever seen! I understand the need to guard against security issues, but it's like the site has been BLEACHED and sanitized. Totally not cool at all... -
I'm with all of you who don't like the new site. I loved the feature we had before when we could see all the current posts for each of the main topics. It does seem like something that wasn't broke is now broke...
-
"Having the forums (fora?) listed alphabetically is also terribly unfriendly. I think newcomers will be turned off by it - the previous listing presented forums according to the b/c experience: pre-diagnosis, being diagnosed, chemo, rads, etc."
Hmmmm....so that's what they did. I wondered why all the topics were listed so differently. Chemo brain? Or just plain slow.
And, I just noticed there's no "quote" icon to click onto. I don't like that.
I'm beginning to dislike this very much. Why did they take so much away? I haven't even tried putting my avatar back up.

well i am computer stupid. it is a little hard for me.
-
HATE IT TOO! Put it back!!!
So do we have to reload our avitar? -
Well the good news is that the site change so frequently that Im sure its only a matter of months before it has an all new design. Maybe that one will be better.
-
As for having to log in each time, I guess that is somewhat helping to avoid those stinky spambots which used to irritate us and ruin the forum. At least I haven't seen any stupid porno links since the upgrades were done. I think that the security was a big part of why they had to do the upgrade.
So let's be a little more patient and give them some time. The glitches are currently in process of being fixed and actually they have been working hard and pretty responsive to our concerns.
Hugs,

Totally agree with you, i hate this new format!! There's an old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". If EVER a quote applied to anything, it apply's to what has been done to the Breastcancer.org site.
-
bc.org is responding rapidly to the suggested changes we've made in the first forum in the list. This is a short list of the things that are coming soon (and I'm sure I've missed a bunch):
- visual indication that you've got a PM
- organized forums (versus the current alphabetical)
- active forums
- taking you to the last post you read when you open a conversation you've previously read
- preview your post prior to posting
- spellcheck
- showing the orginal poster in the conversation list
- I'm sure there are other changes as well... that I missed in this list
they are being very responsive and communicating the changes ... there's already been a big improvement in the site - and I think the changes above will be go a huge way towards addressing the majority of the concerns that have been raised

I couldn't believe what I saw......
NO I definitely DON'T like it.
Trawling through everything to see what the last post is....don't know where people are located, how many posts they have made, when they joined.....taking ages to log in each time.....HELP!!!!
I didn' like the changes they made last time - but this is FAR worse. Can't see me ever getting used to it.

After my brain made a shift of thinking, I thought of myself as a first time person.....instead of a veteran. I was just as nervous when I came here the first time ... "how to navigate", "what to say", etc. It took me awhile to understand it, but finally I did with a little help from our friends here.
I noticed too the changed of order to the forums .... I liked the progressive style of old, but as I scrolled down to find my "usual" I found some that I probably didn't pay attention to before ... so that's a positive aspect to me.
And...I'm here...so it can be too bad. -

Even if it takes more than once to get it right (LOL!!!!)

I have had a difficult time logging on to our new site since Friday. There is an explanation in the moving beyond thread from our moderators. Their reasons for change, make alot of sense.
I also think they have been working diligently to get the site working and fix all kinks.
Some of our concerns a legitimate. But ya gotta look at things realistically. Is it so bad the print is larger? Not for me. It makes reading alot easier. We have new icons. Alot of other good features too. Once everything is fixed - I think the new site will be good.
As far as newbies - they wont be missing anything. They will still come here for support and will think this site is great.
Lots of hugs to everyone. It has been a stressful 3 days.

testing to see if my avatar shows up. I hope so!
Haven't been on the site for a while and I wanted to make my 500th post something memorable, but this is it....hooray for me
I am doing well, feeling hopeful about my life, that about says it all!

When one picks up messages
at HOME page
do we not get a light
or signal .. if messages
are waiting.. anymore
I did not see one
and received a few PMs
Sierra -
Sierra .. no, that is one of the things they are going to have in the future though. For now you can get an email notification if you have the box checked for it in your preferences.

DOC- Congrats on our 500th post!!!
-
Could someone help me get my avatar back? Do you have to go to your home and add it there? I did try to copy and paste from my photobucket site but it isn't showing up on my posts. HELP!!
Sherry
-
Sherry, usually you can direct-link pictures from Photobucket when posting. But for your avatar, you need to have it on your computer and upload it directly to your account here. If it's not stored on your computer, go to your photobucket account and save it onto your computer by right-clicking it. Then go back to your "My Home" page and upload it from your own computer.
Hugs,
-
DONE! Thanks Fumi!
-
Grrrrr . I don't do weel with change.....okay I am just adding my post to see if I fixed my Avatar and username correctly.
-
This is HORRIBLE. The lettering I am seeing is huge. Logging in every damned time is a pain. Old threads are listed as "new." It's difficult to navigate around the site and find the things I want. What was so terrible about the old site? Change isn't always for the better.
-
Well, the biggest gripe I have is, what about the newbies? What in heaven's name will ever tell them any of us are even here? It is almost impossible unless you are Fumi (who is a genius) to find anything or even how to post.
Fummmmmme, Hugs, Shirlann

hello.. hello...testing one two three...
dang, another learning curve...hope i can figure this one out and learn to feel okay about it but for now i am not finding it easy to get to the last post of a thread, just the beginning...
it is always change, i understand, with the world wide web but i am on the fence as to if
this works easier because as of now
i am pretty much lost...but as everything i will forge on and see if i can get it...
testing 123...
-
I am a little concerned about the newbies too.
-
I'm having a hard time with the format, but am trying to adapt. I've been trying to send a PM all day and keep getting told there's a technical problem. I do miss the "old" board.
