I hope you will permit me to share a happy note. When I had my b.c., my daughter was only in 6th grade. Needless to say, we both had fears. Yesterday we took her to college.
And cancer is a memory. So I thought I'd share that. I'm so pleased

That is so wonderful to hear. My oldest son was starting college when I was dx and now he is in his second year. On Sept 12, I will be a one year survivor! I love hearing stories like yours and look forward to the day he graduates from college as well as the day my youngest graduates from college. (He is a junior in high school) You give us all hoe. Good luck to you and your daughter. Bonny

Thanks, NYCMOM...that is so inspiring! I recall taking my daughter to college, BC (before cancer), and having to tell her of my diagnosis over the phone while she was in the middle of exam week. But 2 weeks ago, she moved back close to home to attend grad school and cancer is, for today, behind us.

Thanks for the story, I also had to tell my son who is in the Navy over the phone about my cancer dx. They would not let him even come home for surgery, his ship is preparing for 6 month deployment to the P gulf. Can't wait to see him next summer and show him I am cancer free.

That is great. I am feeling the fears myself right now and my kids are third and first grade. College seems a really far way off but one day at a time with fingers crossed.

I work with a woman who was dx'd about 14 years ago stage 2 to 3 at age 43. She is sending her youngest off to college also.

Hi everyone, Thought I'd share too!!!! When I was dx my daughter was in 2nd grade, my son in kindergarten, and my baby was 15months. I remember praying to God to just let me see my youngest go off to kindergarten. Well, my "baby" is now in 6th grade!! My son is a junior in high school, and my daughter is a freshman in college!!!

What wonderful stories. You ladies give the rest of us hope. Even us "old" grandmas. I'd like to see my 4 1/2 year old granddaughter go to high school. I'm not trying to rush anything though. Gotta keep those kids "little" as long as we can.
