For those starting chemo in June

Hi Ladies--Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. It's county fair time here and I actually went over to the fair for a few minutes yesterday. My sister is here from Oregon for her class reunion and we visited with a few people we hadn't seen in a few years. It was fun. Most of the time the weather for the fair has been yucky. It has been rainy and kinda cold. Neal McCoy was the night show last night and they had to move it into the high school gym. I didn't go--I stayed home and relaxed and worked on my jigsaw puzzle. I may still be working on that darn thing at Christmas time. My sister and I were going to clean the utility room and porch closets today, but instead we have been sitting here watching Bridezillas. It's pretty funny. The NASCAR race got postponed due to rain otherwise I'd be watching that. Well, just thought I'd check in with my Junies. Life is Good--Smiles--NancyLee

Hi ladies, I hear ya on the Nascar. Hubby is big Jeffy fan. Now we are watching the Cubs. Thank God the race was cancelled or he would be going nuts with the remote back and forth from the race to the game. We did good at the fair. I am going to have to get busy making more jewelry. It stormed today and it rained all day Thurs. We still did good though. I better get I am so tired. Later ladies, Mary

hey ladies,
Good to hear from you all. Way to go Mary. Would love to see some of your master work. Nancy you are one busy lady.
One of my thumb nails was yucky due to Taxol and had almost grown out and beginning to be normal -- only a little at the top still pulled away from the nail bed. The other one looked a little strange but did not know exactly what the deal was with it. Anyway, I started having my nails done with the artificial kind etc. Well, now they are both almost completely pulled away from the bed and really ugly. So I think the hard stuff they put on them makes them lift or something. So I did them myself today and cut both of them way back trying to get them to grow back normally. Over three years and my nail and hair are still not back to the "before normal." Know of anyone else who has these problems?
Getting ready to soak in the tub and turn in....another busy week ahead of me.
Have a great week ladies.
Janie -
Janie, I haven't seen my real nails for so long I have no idea what they look like. I get the white tips and mine seem to be secure finally. I will check in later. Mary
-
Oh, Janie, YES, I know somebody right here in my skin who is 3+ years out and still having problems with hair and nails. I was bragging last week that I knew I'm getting better because I finally was getting fingernails that didn't peel away and fall off and I couldn't wait til I saw my onc in September so that I could show him these cool fingernails. Well, right after I made that brash statement--the middle one started to peel and the little one and now all the ones are again doing their little Taxolpeel routine and I had to cut them all back short again to save them somewhat. NOT FUN!! So we move on. Does this mean that the Taxol is still in there to some degree doing its little keep the cancer away thing? I intend to have a little discussion with my onc about this very question. I'd like to have normal feet and toenails again too. Enough!! I've been ordering some books online for my preschool. Yay--I'm getting so excited that the school year is just about here. Life is Great Smiles NancyLee
-
Hi girls. Well back from the disappointingly NOT cool northland. But we had fun anyway. Oddly, I came back with a cold and so rescheduled my scans until next week. Felt to lousy to do the whole PET scan routine.
Looks like you guys have been keeping busy. Just wanted to drop in and say hi.
Paula -
Hey glad your back P.J. Gosh I hope your weather wasn't bad. Sorry your vacation wasn't as expected. Glad you managed to have some fun. N.L. my feet are not recovering very well and I now have been told I have neuropathy up to my knees and in my arms. Frankly the way my memory is I really think it is in my head. Gee, thank God hubby isn't any better. Later girls, Mary
-
NL, I had not thought of it that way. I will be eager to hear what your onc says. PJ, How much wind and rain are you getting from Dean? Glad you are home. Wish your trip had been better. Mary, I think the neuropathy and chemo brain are going to hang on forever. Every time I think my memory is getting better, I forget something else. However, my neuropathy is mild compared to yours. You seem seem to get the brundt of everything.
Ya'll keep cool. I cannot believe football season is almost here with these temperatures.
Later Junies,
Janie -
Huh? I forgot. Mary

Forgot what? I forgot what you are forgetting.

Hi--Gosh, what the heck am I doing up at this hour? We, my sis and BIL, got home at @9:30 tonite from a trip up to see my Mom and brother & family. My Mom is failing fast and is getting quite close to the end according to the medical personnel. We came back to Baker as I have an eye appointment in Miles City tomorrow and I have to get some stuff settled at the daycare. My sister is going to take me to the eye appt. as I will be unable to drive back the 80 miles after they put junk in my eyes and all that jazz. Funny stuff with the chemo-brain thing and I really, really think that it seems to be going to last with me. I just and I mean JUST had this insurance paper to take with me to the eye doctor and I now have spent the past half hour looking for it. I know I thought at the moment I had it in my hand that I'd put it where I'd find it easily when I got to the office, BUT................After we get back, we need to do some legal paperwork and then unless something changes immediately with Mom, my sister and bro-in-law will take off for Oregon on Saturday morning. They also need to get some things settled with jobs and stuff for when they have to zip back here. They will fly then with my RFL tickets. I've got to go to the daycare on Sat and do a fix-up clean up of my preschool room and put up all the decorations etc. That may carry me through Sunday too. Then I have to do payroll on Monday and then I think that I will head back to Plentywood to be with Mom. I try not to plan too much ahead because with my life I never know what the next minute will bring much less the next day. So I'm awake at 2 in the morning and stewing and fretting when I should be sleeping so I'd better get some sleep or I'll have such bloodshot eyes that the eye doctor won't be able check them at all??!! So..good to see everyone back and good night or morning as it may be--Life is Good (Most of the time)--Smiles--NancyLee
-
Hey Nancy, sorry about your Mom. I know what you mean about stewing instead of sleeping. After my son was attacked I laid and just thought about it and how that guy should pay and how we know who it is but they can't prove it so he gets away with it, it still bothers me. Well, we have to see the guy around town too and that doesn't help. Anyway, hope you get some rest Nancy. Hey to Janie and P.J., I want to hear about your vacation P.J. Hows the house going Janie? Have you got everything put away yet? We finally go back to school Mon. Later girls, Mary
-
Nancy, I am sorry to hear that your Mom is near the end, as well as about all of your other difficulties.
PJ, how is it going? Is it drenched or dry in TX. I heard on the news that part of the country is so saturated trees are falling over and the rest of the country is scorched (that would be us).
Mary, I am about there with the house. Some things will stay stored in the garage until the weather breaks and until whatever excuse I come up with after that.
Have a great weekend ladies,
J -
Hi girls,
Nancy, I hope you get some good time with your mom in this hard time. Hugs headed your way.
Things are good here. The trip was actually quite fun except for the drive from hell. We stayed in cabins at a cool "resort" called Blue Bell in the Black Hills. We've gone there a few times before. Luckily, this time we didn't have buffalo sleeping in our yards. It was really nice not to have to be on the lookout for pissed off bulls or buffalo patties.
Wasn't as cool up there as I'd hoped, but we did all we set out to do (including panning for gold. got a whopping FLAKE of gold after panning for an hour) and got MY number 1 goal accomplished: eating the hot roast beef sandwich at Talley's in downtown Rapid City.
I highly recommend the Black Hills for vacationing girls.
We spent a few days in Omaha with my sister. It was hotter there than here. And, indeed Janie, we do have lots of trees falling over around here because the ground got too sopped. But things are back to normal now: hot and dry.
Janie, has school started for you? Nathan starts Tuesday and I think he's gonna have a really fun year. He's not sure if he'll go on the trip. 4th and 5th graders are going to Ruidoso, NM, for four days.
Mary, are you refilling your jewelry stock to go on another sale? How's your son?
Later,
PJ -
I just wrote a post and it was no longer valid. I have writters cramp! I will be back later. Hope all is well with you N.L. and glad your trip was fun P.J. we saw N. Dekota in the rig but we want to see S. Dekota. Janie glad you are settled in and I have found from watching my neighbor mow his grass that a young ripped man mows the grass soo much better than I or an older man could ever do. Don't be affraid to tell him he missed a spot and maybe he should just do it all again, it is so worth the money. Thats my tip for today, you'll thank me. Mary
-
PJ, Sounds like a great place to vacation. May look into that some day. I went back to work July 26 and the kids returned August 1 ! We get off a lot during the year so we start earlier than others. We have already put a month in.
Mary, where does one find one of THOSE mowers you speak about?
NL, hope everything is going as well as can be expected.
Hugs to all -
Hi girls,
Well, have a PET/CT scan tomorrow, results Thursday. Hold some good thoughts for me. I'm getting a bit anxious....
Paula -
Save us a seat. We will all be in there with you. Sending positive vibes and hugs and prayers to you >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
-
P.J. we are circling the wagons as we speak. Good luck girlfriend. Janie, I don't know where one would get such a yard man at this point in time as my eye candy got married and moved. Is there no end to my torment? Hubby just waddles around the yard picking his shorts outta his butt and airing his armpits as he mows ..... Mary
-
PJ, Hope all is well with you. Thought about you today. NL thinking of you during this trying time.
Mary, Are you sure T Tim didn't mow my yard a few days ago? -
Hey girls, Janie one never knows where Tim is or what he is up too. If the lawn is half-asked it may have been Tim. Well,I am waiting for good news from P.J. and that everythings good with N.L. Janie, I think lawn men should put their picture in the ads. for work. Then we know what we are getting, I mean we don't want someone who looks as if they could have heart failure mowing my lawn huh? I saw the endocrinologist today and he said thyroid needs to come out. I am wondering if I can get a 3-fer. Teeth, shoulder and thyroid at one time. I am gonna try. Golly 1 and 1/2 years and they find it was a bad thyroid, not anxiety all along and my shoulder pain is from spurs. What a wk. this has been. I feel great just to not be "nuts". The Dr. said if my thyroid is cancer Onky will want a full mastectomy. I was kinda taken aback and didn't ask why. Oh well hope all is well with everyone. Hugs, Mary
-
Good Grief Mary,
You are STILL going through so much. I did not realize you were going back today and getting such news. Is your surgery soon? HUGS TO ALL OF YOU >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> -
Howdy, girls,
Wow, Mary, so when does the thyroid come out? We'll just go with it not being cancerous, OK? I'd hate to have you have a mast. Let me tell you, those mast. swimsuits are just NOT the same.
Scan went smoothly today. Find out the results Thursday afternoon. I'll try not to go nuts before then.
Janie, I haven't had a chance to look at the recipe thing really. Have you gotten good ones yet?
Have a fun evening. Me, I'm about to head to bed....
Paula -
Here's keeping my fingers and toes crossed that both of you are still dancing with NED. Hugs and positive vibes
-
Thanks, Janie. I'll let you guys know when I know. Mary, when do you know more about the thyroid. And hugs out there for Nancy Lee...
-
Waiting on good news P.J. let us know. My board where I read our post is way big to the right. I can't figure out how to get it to normal size. I didn't do anything it just came that way for 2 days now. One line is like a foot long. I called my Dr. about when I will have surgery. They said she is gone until Nov.????????? I am really unhappy about that. I asked what I should do and the gal said theres a N.P. if you want to ask her what to do. I said can she set up surg.? The answer was no. I am really quite calm for such a stupid thing to go on here but I have come to adjust to it I guess. I will deal with it later. Hope N.L. is doing well and Janie, don't work to hard. Later, Mary
-
Mary, the posts are big on mine too. Must be the website. Have to move the doohickey at the bottom back and forth in order to read them. I know you are aggravated about the surgery. And you should be.
PJ, thinking about you and your results today.
Nancy how are you?
Janie -
Actually, Janie, I think it's possible it's the <<<< on your earlier post. The thing doesn't know what to do with them....
BUT, here's my big news. Scans are fine, don't have to go back for 6 months AND I'm getting my port out in a couple of weeks..... Yippee!!!!!
Going to celebrate. I'm not sure how, but it probably involves something sweet (since it's only Thursday and I really can't do alcohol during the week).
Have a great one,
Paula -
AAAHHHH,This is better, Great news P.J. Drinks are on me. At my age I think I will have a gator-eeta. Yea, potassium with a worm, what a way to Par-tay. Shake it up and salt the rim please, Old folks style. Wow, I get lost reading our post. I can pretty much get lost going from room to room here so thats nothing new. Hubby found a camper that "needs a little work" and was very excited about it and how cheap it was. Lord please strike me upside the head if I must live with this man forever. Put me out of my misery. He says "we can fix it up real nice" now thats a statement I have heard before and I should just shoot him dead!!! Needless to say I was calm and cool when I said "ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR FREAKING MIND?" Are you nuts? wheres the camera? are we on candid camera? I know you didn't mean that! He said "never mind, I was just thinking of saving some money and doing something together". Now going to a camper place and buying a camper thats already built or even from a private owner, thats doing something together. No, that crap ain't gonna fly here. He is nuts. I could plug in the extension cord and stick it in his ear and shock him back to reality. He just lopped to bed like a scared rabbit and King of Queens is on so better go. Have a good night ladies. Mary
