Pre-Surgery What do you eat or drink?

I've lost 12 pounds so far. Diagnosed 2 months ago and still awaiting surgery. I'm afraid to eat or drink anything thinking it will make the tumor grow. I read no caffeine, sugar, or alcohol. I am down to just drinking water and am stopped even taking a daily vitamin. I try to eat more fruit and vegetables, fish and chicken only. Strange I'm not usually a drinker of alcohol but I thought what better a time for a drink than when you are diagnosed with breast cancer?
Any suggestions on diet.
thanks.

How about whatever you like? There's not much evidence that diet affects breast cancer or the recurrence rate. Yes, a healthy diet and weight loss is good, but please try to relax a bit. Get more chocolate and some nice seasonal fruit and vegetables!

I asked my dr. right out about diet. He said there's no proof of anything anywhere. It's genetic. Although, I didn't realize until I filled out a survey for Roswell how bad my eating habits were and how much FAT I eat!! I'm trying really hard to cut down on junk and eat more fruits and veggies. PLus more excericse.

Eat whatever sounds good to you! I also (unintentionally) lost 8 lbs. between my diagnosis and mastectomy surgery 3 months later. Lots of people are "stress eaters" - I am the opposite, and my appetite disappears when I am stressed..I also stopped taking my vitamins (I have to take it w/food to avoid nausea and since I was barely eating....). I ended up being anemic prior to surgery - not good! I am certain it was diet-related.

I ended up drinking a fair amount of wine during that time - it would relax me a bit, and *sometimes* stimulate my appetite! I gained it everything back post-op with a high-protein diet, and being waited on hand and foot for a couple of weeks

I previously ate a pretty healthy diet - so I don't believe there is any correlation between diet and cancer...

I am not ready to give up my wine yet i read that taking folic acid negates any negative effects of alchohol on tumor growth. So I drink my galss of wine and take folic acid and let cards fall where they may.

Surgery Sept 26, 2016. I am sipping my last glass of wine Sat night. I am tired of wondering what caused this!
